You love them for their rainbow of colors, for the carefree manner with which they flutter about, and DANG if they don't induce wonder when they are metamorphosing!!! Metamorphosis is the process by which a caterpillar (called a larva) transforms into a butterfly! The caterpillar hangs from a branch and becomes a chrysalis, while undergoing some changes (no big deal, just GROWING WINGS!), and then emerges from the chrysalis as a butterfly.
