Downtown Library closed 2/4; Reduced Hours starting 2/5

by eli

Due to a positive COVID test among the staff in one of the Downtown Library staff teams, the Downtown Library will be closed Thursday February 4th.

Due to the staffing impact of quarantine, pickup hours at the Downtown library will be 2 PM - 8 PM daily, starting when we reopen on Friday February 5th. Stay tuned for the resumption of regular hours once quarantined staff are able to return to work.

If you had scheduled a pickup for Thursday, February 4th, it will be canceled and you can reschedule it. All items ready for pickup in the Downtown Lobby will stay right where they are until 2/15.

MeLCat deliveries all pass through the Downtown Library; MeLCat requests may be delayed while our reduced Downtown staff focus on processing returns and loading the lobby for pickups.

If you have any questions or need any assistance, please don't hesitate to contact us or call or text 734-327-4200.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we apologize for this interruption in library service.

Wishing the staffer who got sick a speedy recovery. Thank you for prioritizing public health in these hard times!

Echoing gratitude for your diligence and good wishes for speedy healing of the staff member. Thank you, AADL, the catalog makes a wonderful difference in navigating these days.

So grateful that there have been so few positive tests amongst library staff. Having access to library materials has helped me maintain my sanity during these trying times, but health and safety must always comes first. Thank you to everyone who keeps the library up and running while doing so safely.

It's now late May, and there haven't been any new updates since February. Pretty much everything is re-opening with reduced capacity, and the Governor says all restrictions will be lifted by July 1st. The CDC has clarified that "deep cleaning" is pointless. No surface cleaning is really required, SARS-Cov-2 is spread through the air. Your air handling is no worse than most buildings, and you can always require masks - we'd all still wear them. Most of the joy of using the library was in browsing the stacks to find something new, or studying at a table in the quiet of the library. When are you going to rejoin the community?
