AADL-GT Round 2: This Weekend!

by eli

Preregistration is now open for AADL-GT Round 2, happening this Saturday, September 24th, from Noon - 5 PM in the Basement of the Downtown Library. Doors will open at 11:30 for players in grades 6-12, so be early to get checked in and start warming up. Winners of the Sur-Prize round game will take home $70, $50, and $30 gift cards for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. We'll have single-player and team events in both Mario Kart Double Dash and Super Smash Brothers: Melee, and the event will (really this time) be broadcast live on Comcast channel 18 in Ann Arbor, so be sure to bring a signed release form if you haven't turned one in before. We'll be implementing several enhancements this round, including smoother, faster registration & check-in, split-screen single player Kart for more races in less time, checkin and food and tables outside the room, and definitely more pizza. Read on for more.

We'll also be having an All-Ages DDR Tournament, Sunday Sept. 25th, from 1:00-4:00 at the Malletts Creek Branch. Open Gamecube play will be available, and prizes are $40, $30, and $20 gift cards.

One of our new features is a super-easy way to attach your clan logo to all your comments here on the axis blog. Just email me your clan logo at axis@aadl.org, and I'll add it to the server. You can then include your clan logo in your post just by adding:

[mygtclanlogo]

anywhere in your post, including in your signature! You can edit your signature on the 'edit' tab of your My Account page. Once you've added that tag to your signature, you'll never have to think about your clan logo again. Let me know if you run into any trouble or have any questions about this.

Also, it's time to announce the players who will be invited to do live, on-air commentary at this month's tournament. I will be appointing Lead and Relief Commentators for each event, with the Lead commentators doing most of the talking, and the Relief stepping in when the Leads are playing. Be aware that my goal is to produce the most entertaining event possible, so while I want to give several players a chance to do this, I will be making changes and cuts throughout the season. If I don't think you did a very good job, you won't be invited back to the 'press box' next month. So, be forewarned, and don't take it personally. Also, remember that this is an invitation. You don't have to do it if you don't want to. So, here are our commentary teams for Round 2:

Mario Kart Single-Player and Team:
Lead: Major Tom and Leinad
Relief: Muffincat and Duck

Super Smash Brothers Single-Player and Team:
Lead: Sravan and Galen (pr0 and c0n)
Relief: Black Shark and Duck

Surprize Round:
Lead: Muffincat and Black Shark
Relief: Major Tom and Leinad

A few tips for you commentators:

1) Look for the drama and build it with story, not with interjections.

Right: Wow, he's made it all the way to the final lap of the final race, only a master shell can ruin his day now...
Wrong: Oh! oh! wow! Man! Going! Going! Going! Gone!

2) Play off your partner, no matter who they are, use their name extensively, and set them up.

Right: I see she is truly dominant with DK, bob, isn't that one of your best characters?
Wrong: (in reply): Nope.

3) Remember that the audience at home may not know anything about the games.

Right: Wow, there goes Mario's Cape teleportation glitch... that's a bug in the game that's very difficult to execute, but very shocking when performed precisely....
Wrong: Oh man! Charizard!

4) Nothing impresses me more than a dazzling display of Nintendo Knowledge.

Right: You know, bob, the original Donkey Kong was Shigeru Miyamoto's first game for Nintendo, and it was built to be a conversion for thousands of unused Radarscope cabinets, as the US market had responded very poorly to Radarscope, despite it having been a smash hit in Japan.
Wrong: The Revolution is going to suck.

Anyway, enough of that. Get registered for the tournament, get practicing, and if you've got questions, now's the time. See you Saturday!

Comments

lol eli i like ur do's and dont's.
everything looks good and i hope to see everyone there!

it didnt work for some reason?

[mygtclanlogo]

Noooooo! Eli! You let Black Shark do something significant! Like commentating!! That is a very, VERY, bad idea!!!!!

"Caboose: Look what I found!
Donut: Hey, <strong>I</strong> found it!!
Caboose: Look what I took <em>credit</em> for finding!"

Since I'm done with my work. I'll make a post. I like that you reposted the release from it helps not having to tell people it is half way down the page. I didn't know about the radarscope, that's pretty cool.

cool I'm Relief with Muffincat.

Fry: So, there’s an infinite number of parallel universes?
Professor: No, just the two.
Fry: Oh, well, I’m sure that’s enough.

Didn't Black Shark say that he was quitting, and not going to do anything at all? We'd probably better get another commentator to fill his spot.

"Caboose: Look what I found!
Donut: Hey, <strong>I</strong> found it!!
Caboose: Look what I took <em>credit</em> for finding!"

Or does the fact that I'd like to play you all in Mario Kart indicate that the 18+ crowd is not challenging enough?

Hmmmmm........ :-)

When I was eleven or twelve I was winning tournaments in Street Fighter II, so I know from experience that age and skill do not always go hand in hand.

Sounds pretty good. The commentary dos and don'ts made me chuckle. I'm looking forward to it. But I must agree with Tom in voicing my opposition to Black Shark commentary. However, Eli has made his decision and says that those commentators who suck will be removed next round, so I guess I'm fine with it for now and if Black Shark does good then I have no problem with him staying.

I am confused. The announcements at my school said that there is a mario kart tourney at the neutral zone this week.

Eli is this true?????

There was no tournament today due to low turnout, just open play. Tomorrow, we're planning a Mario Kart at the Neutral Zone from 3-6, and a DDR tournament on Thursday. These were Neutral Zone events, I wasn't involved in the promotion. However, you guys are welcome to come of course. Sorry I didn't mention it sooner. Only 4 stations, splitscreen.

so eli how many people have pre registered yet i just wanna know to see the approximate number of ppl going to the tournament.
the neutral zone thing is high schoolers only right?
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

yes, Sravan the Neutral Zone only lets High schoolers in.

Fry: So, there’s an infinite number of parallel universes?
Professor: No, just the two.
Fry: Oh, well, I’m sure that’s enough.

I'm going 2 do fine at commentating u guys, I like 2 be funny, so I will try 2 say funny things like with the pop tart thing and Galen. I'm sorry 4 swearing Eli, it's just that well, I don't know what I do when I'm angry, I can't express in any other way but with swearing, so can u forgive me Eli? I just didn't act like myself the other day, I wont swear ever again. I still don't like that u guys treat me like crud and that I will lose it again, but I wont. I wont be retiring, that, I copied from a TV show from the G4 channel. My life is over, all I got is still the commentating privleges. Everybody hates me, Eli hates me, and I don't blame u guys, I acted like a total jackbutt and I was a jerk, a total fudgin' jerk, I hate myself and well, I SUCK AT SUPER SMASH BROS., I'm going 2 get my butt kicked on local television! I just really had a bad day yesterday. I'm going 2 do horribly at the tournament. Flare, Joesmo, Tom, and Duck were all rite, I am a failure and I'm not good at all. I'm surprised I even #34. I should be at #100000000.
I'm that bad and I will never lie again and I will never swear again. Eli, if u want 2, u can delete my account now. U should delete it becausse I'm a failure and I suck and I don't belong on this site anymore.

"I hate myself"
[img_assist|fid=123|thumb=1|alt=Black Shark Clan]

Black shark could you please stop using the word "suck" If you want to express youself you can write poetry, or use figurative language.

"I feel worse than a loser rejected by a reject."

"I am angrier than a laughing hyena in the middle of a river."
that was not a good example of figurative language, becuase it was a laughing hyena, the word "laughing" destroyed the flow.

I do not think that the Neutral zone gives out prizes, not completly sure, but if they don't announce that there are prizes the chances are there are not any prizes.

by the way leanahd (leinad) you spelled tp2's name wrong.....

Black Shark if we had 100000000 show up to these tournaments I would stand outside and charge a dollar. Just because you won't win much this season doesn't mean your life is over, I mean there is always next season. Hint in a few years most of the season I Vets will be gone.

Fry: So, there’s an infinite number of parallel universes?
Professor: No, just the two.
Fry: Oh, well, I’m sure that’s enough.

Wheeeoooo, Black Shark, spare us the Drama. I don't hate you and you shouldn't beat yourself up about this. Remember that many of these guys hardly know you, and all they have to base their opinions of you on is what you've written here, which, well, doesn't always reflect well on you. I think you wouldn't be in this pickle if you simply didn't post angry. Step away from the keyboard when you think you might post something you'd regret. Don't take everything so seriously.

And as for the rest of youse, I know it's not often that a bunch of geeks like us get the opportunity to gang up on someone wearing a football jersey, but I think that's enough catharsis... time to look for the irony.

There are prizes at the NZ tourney. $20, $15, $10. Show up tomorrow by 4:00.

u high schoolers take everything to litaratily he was exaturating. we are still doing 1v1 elims for single melee right? he next tournament after this is will be on the 22nd of october right and the friday is the ssbm all ages thing do u know the prizes for that eli?

i always miss the swearing

galen i havent heard from u for a while u are gonna come to the tournament right? we cant practiec friday night cuz i have a school dance unless i bring u to that...nobody hates galen though he is pesimistic sometimes. i presume that if the lead commentators and the relief commentators for mario kart are in the same race which will probably only be in team mkdd, me and galen will take over if we arent racing as well.

It's not an insult against football players at all, TP2. It's not even an insult against people who wear football jerseys. It's not even an insult. =)

As far as the podcast goes, I sent off an email to Eli about a plan for it, but I haven't started actually writing it yet. So far for interviewees I have:

Galen
Sravan
Joe
Steven
Duck

If anyone else wants to be in it, just let me know.

well leinad i have so much homework today so it wasent that good for me but overall i had a good day. arent u guys gonna interview yourselves for the podcast so u can add tom, daniel, and ian to the list. do u guys know if muffincat is coming cuz if she isnt then we need someone to replace her commentating duties like flare or bumblebee person. joe did u pre register?
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

how come after i post no one posts for a couple of hours but when i decide to not post the next time i come back i see 10 new posts in 2 hours?
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Muffincat is coming.

No one was at the NZ tournament, Only 2 people from clans (including myself) and 12 people total (several left before the end). Since they didn't have a MKDD tournament yesterday they decided to have both a SSBM and MKDD tournaments. I won't you know it I won both for $40 total.

Oh and it turns out these were season events so the Vaccinated Monk Clan is in the Finals.

Fry: So, there’s an infinite number of parallel universes?
Professor: No, just the two.
Fry: Oh, well, I’m sure that’s enough.

what that shouldnt count eli middle schoolers cant go there so its unfair. his whole clan didnt even go there and he didnt have subs etc. u guys will make it anyway without the NZ tournament.

Hey, I need 2 know if any of those stupid noisemakers registered. I still don't get how that Hurricane Katrina blog got on the axis blog? Nobody's commenting anymore. It's useless. If it doesn't involve video games, it's useless. Hey, Eli, can come up with another video game tourney thing with like an AADL-GT SPORTS EDITION, yea I like that, have it be a tournament with nothing but EA Games and stuff. Make it in a format like AADL-GT. Maybe? U did tell me that u were interested and I soooooooooooo want Madden back at the AADL. Also, see if u can hire John Madden and Al Michaels 2 do some commentating as well, I know I will try hard 2 do well.

Hurricane Katrina got on here because they wanted to make sure everyone saw it.

Black Shark you know Eli doesn't like sports games that much and come on Getting John Madden and Al Michaels to commentate for CTN. They would never take it because everyone would assume that they were having money troubles, plus it not like you can just talk to them.

Good Morrow!
In response to the honourable BCL's question, which is as follows:
<em>"give it up, eli always gets the last post, because he can close it whenever he wants. But, what happend to pickwick the second?
he is like not posting a wall of text."</em>:
I must cite the Supreme Overlord of all Kings Geek:
<em>"As for you, Mssrs. Duck and Pickwick, that will be quite enough of your little recursive filibuster. I have a cloture button that requires not a single vote of support; don't make me use it as I have elsewhere."</em>
I interpret this as a threat to disallow my (and, possibly, Duck's) access to the forum in the event that we continue composing lengthy, short-story-esque communiques; thus, it is for the sake of caution that I refrain from inundating this line of communication.
By the by, it would seem that, as of this time, September 30, 2005, Anno Domini, it is I, Pickwick the Second, that holds the office of "Last Poster." I realise, of course, that this state of matters is unlikely to endure.

Good Day!!

Good "Arbitrary division of time into a twenty-four hour period!"
You have a keen insight into the nature of things, Sir Ducksalot; the writing of dictionaries was, indeed, one potential pursuit I foresaw in my future. As a hobby of sorts, it could be very entertaining--the goal, of course, would be to write the entries in a manner not exactly conducive to imparting understanding. There is little likelihood of my selling it, though.

how many trophies do u guys have in melee?
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

In reply to by Sir Ducksalot

289 baby. tell me the ones u dont have i can help u get them. i bet u dont have the diskun trophy. i bet u dont have the pikmin or sheriff one either those are hard to get.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Morrow which is not unreasonably depressing in nature!

I have a grand total of zwei Hundert sechsundachtzig (286) trophies; I have Sheriff, which, as I recall, is received upon reducing your total Target Test time to eleven minutes or below; I have never, however, bothered to load a Pikmin file onto my game in order to be granted that particular trophy. Would you like to guess at the identies of the other two which are only in your possession? One of them may be the aforementioned 'Diskun(I am not, at this time, able to check, but it hath a sound not familiar to mine ear;)' how would one go about procuring said trophy?

Day which is not, of course, entirely devoid of goodness!

-----Pickwick the Second-----

PS: Vote Obama 2008!!!!! Sir Ducksalot, what is your favourite potential candidate for the next presidential race (anybody who you would like to see run?)

In reply to by Pickwick the Second

the diskun trophy is the hardest. u know in a bonus match and u get those bonuses well u gotta get all of them. every single bonus and penalty. one is very hard clear, one is no damage clear where u beat 1 player mode withour taking any damage, and another is gigabowser KO and crazy hand KO(it suprises me that giga bowser KO gives u 100,000 but crazy hand KO gets u 80,000). also the 3 bonuses that took me a while were celebi catcher, power shielder, and hammer throw. celebi catcher is self explanatory but none of u guys know what a power shielder is so im not gonna bother explaining it. i have gotten all of them but hammer throw which is harder then it sounds.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

oohh SRAVAN... YOU ARE ACTING LIKE A DISONEST REALTOR AGAIN.....

Power Shielder: Used Power Shield often (three times or more in one minute)
To perform a power sheild, you must block at the very same time that an opponent is attacking you. This is best done in VS mode, against another human opponent. Take two controllers, and you must hit the block button on one controller at the exact moment that you're attacking with the other. You'll know that it works when you see a white flash following the blocked attack. Do this three times or more every minute, and you've got it.

Poser KO: KO'd an enemy with a taunt
A Poser KO is scored when you defeat an opponent using a taunt move. Sound impossible? Luigi performs a light kick with his taunt. Although it's possible to KO some of the weaker opponents in Very Easy mode, it's much easier to do pull it off in VS mode. With two controllers plugged in, just get the other character on the edge of an arena. Use Luigi's taunt to kick them, and just let them fall to their death without recovering. In Adventure Mode, you can easily KO each of the Kirby's on Very Easy.
Flame Thrower: Got a 10 combo or higher with the Fire Flower
You can score some serious damage with the fire flower. The best way to earn this bonus, is to get your opponent against a wall. A good place is on Princess Peach's castle. Make sure that your opponent is between you and the wall, and unleash the fire flower power. You should easily be able to score 10 hits for the bonus.

Hammer Throw: Threw the Hammer away
Hammer Throw is really tough to do. The easiest way seems to be in Brinstar, when the yellow chemical rises. Let yourself fall into the chemical when you have the hammer, and hit down and Z to attempt to throw your hammer away when you're in midair. It doesn't always work, so you'll probably have to try it a bunch of times.

Laser Marksman: Hit with every blast from the Ray Gun until it ran out
Hitting an opponent with every single shot from the Laser gun is easier said than done. The best way is to plug in another controller, and fire away at an non-moving target. If you don't have an extra controller, play against a computer controlled character on an easy setting. Choose a big character opponent like Bowser, and play in a flat arena where you'll have room to take your shots.

Mario Maniac: Used only Mushrooms, Fire Flowers, or Starmen
I played a 2 minute match, with the Fire Flower, Super Mushroom, Star, Beam Sword, Star Rod, and Homerun bat as the weapons. I picked up and use at least one of each Mario weapon (mushroom, flower, and star), and DID NOT touch any of the barrels or capsules. I'm thinking that maybe if you pick up and use a barrel/crate etc, you might not earn the point.

Wimp: Used only recovery items (three or more)
I've found that the only recovery item that works here is the heart container... Just play a VS match with the heart container and a few other weapons turned on. Be sure not to touch any other items, and do not use any capsules, crates, or barrels. Just collecting 3 heart containers will get the point for you.

Peaceful Warrior: Never attacked, but didn't lose the match
Here, I plugged in an extra controller, and had a computer player join in. I beat the crap out of that computer player, making sure that I ended up with first place, and the computer would end up in last. That second controller player earns second place for this, meaning they didn't lose, and the point is awarded.

Melee Master: Cleared All-Star Mode without recovering from damage even once
Obviously, this one's best done on Very Easy mode. It shouldn't be hard at all. Just don't waste time finishing off your opponents. Smash attacks are devastating on Very Easy, so quickly eliminate your competition and move onto the next round. Obviously, you must make sure that you don't pick up any food, or the heard containers that you pass on the way to your next fight.

No-Damage Clear: Cleared all levels without taking any damage
This is definitely one of the hardest bonuses to earn. I found the easiest mode to accomplish this was All-Star. I like to use Roy, since his Blazer (B+up) and forward smash attacks are often enough to KO an opponent with full health. This one's frustrating, because you come so close, and then suffer a soft love tap from a weak little character like Pichu or Jigglypuff. Also, beware of barrels, crates, and capsules. They often turn out to be bombs, which can quickly end your No-Damage run. Also, beware of Bob-ombs. It will probably take a good number of tries before you pull this one off. When you take damage, just curse, swear, and do whatever it is you do, and then start all over again. Persistence pays off. If you try hard enough to earn this one, eventally luck will be on your side.

Very-Hard Clear: Cleared the Very Hard Mode
This bonus point is very hard to earn... As if you hadn't already guessed that. The best mode to clear the Very-Hard mode is either Classic of All-Star. Classic is shorter, but you'll have to face a challenging Master Hand at the end. You might need some continue coins for this one. If that's the case, then make sure you have some saved up before you go into battle.

Link Master: Defeated all five Links in Adventure Mode
In the Adventure mode's temple, there are six rooms. One of those rooms contains the mighty Triforce that you must find. The other five rooms have Link guarding them. By searching the temple from top to bottom and killing all five Links, you'll be awarded this bonus point.

sorry about the super post, i just thought these were interesting

Auf Wiedersehen-

Now you have piqued my curiosity. What, precisely, is a 'power shielder,' and by the accomplishment of what feat does one acquire the completion of a 'hammer throw?'

-----Pickwick the Second-----

Edit: In my defense, I wrote this before the preceding post was displayed. I SWEAR!

In reply to by Pickwick the Second

Most Excellent Unit Derived from the Artificial Division of Time into Approximately 86,359 Seconds! (Edit: Actually, it may be due to lack of caffeine, but I believe, after checking my work, that it is closer to 86,147 seconds.)
Thank you for the clarifications!

-----Pickwick the Second-----

PS: Is it, then, true that you go by the name 'Pensar Tortuga?' The post in which you first mentioned the name brought confusion to my mind...

PPS: Greetings and Salutations!!!!!

ok BCL i tried the thing for hammer throw and it doesnt work...
u can try it yourself and see if u get the bonus. lol the dishonest realator cracks me up. pickwick when u do the power sheilder not only do u have perfect timing but it reflects projectiles which no one here knew(dishonest realator again right). u see level 9's do it all the time like u shoot a ray gun at them and they sheild it but it comes back to u and u wonder how did that happen.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

I must report a success on accomplishing the 'Hammer Throw' by utilizing a variant on Mr. BCL's advice; rather than merely pressing Down and Z, I implemented a "button-mashing" function in relation to Down, Z, L, and A, operating under the impression that I might as well use both methodologies for the projectilization of items in the state of being held. After approximately three minutes, 32 seconds and an additional eighth of a second, I managed to drop the object in question; it occurred within the second after a collision with the yellow acid.
As it turns out, I was familiar with the tactic of "Power Shielding" as it applies to items, and had been able, on occasion, to duplicate the effect, though never three times within the same minute.

Good Day!

-----Pickwick the Second-----

did u actually get the bonus for it? i did that many times but didn't get the bonus. check in your bonus records under data it should be near the end.

Good Morrow to all!

May I add my voice to that of the distinguished member who has previously requested knowledge pertaining to the identity of the entity self-entitled "Relson?" If you, Gertlex, are indeed the Eric Relson of The Eric Brothers, PI HI SAMURAI, E-107, Pioneer High School, somewhere on Stadium, then I must extend greetings and salutations! IF, as it turns out, you are NOT the individual identified by the description of every Robotics members' "home away from home" while working on the six-week build, then I must beg that you will ignore this communication.

Good Day, Sir!

---Pickwick the Second
(aka The Robotics Club VP)

PS: If, indeed, you are the entity in question, (and, I suppose, even if you are not,) I must heartily wish you into possession of an abundance of luck during the competition on Saturday, if it be your will to attend!

Good Morrow again!

I would like to advise all to ignore the question in my previous posted message; it was made in ignorance of the existence of a second page, on which said question was answered long ago. Instead, for your reading pleasure, I will post an inspiring quote from our President. (Is this allowed? I have not, of course, read the forum rules about political posting...)
Oh, well.
"See, in my line of work you got to keep repeating things over and over and over again for the truth to sink in, to kind of catapult the propaganda."—Greece, N.Y., May 24, 2005 (Thanks to The Complete Bushisms--Updated Frequently, by Jacob Weisberg.)

Good Day, especially to Eric!!

---Pickwick the Second

PS: Duck, are you, by any chance, a resident of Portable F during sixth hour at Pioneer? A mannerism I seem to recall from a conversation yesterday resembles closely one you utilized on the forum... Again, I must extend my deepest apologies if I am mistaken.

Good Morrow!

Unbelievably, I find myself in the position of having to retract questions posed in BOTH my first two messages; if I had read the piece of paper you handed me, Duck, I would already have known the answer to my question. This is quite embarrassing, as is repeatedly sending messages to an empty forum, so I am of the opinion that this is the last post for me this morning (besides which, I just finished my homework and intend to get some sleep before my alarm goes off.)
Good Morning, if such a modified noun may be said to exist!

---Pickwick the Second---

PS: I've always had a postscript at the end of my messages, and I see no reason to end this time-honoured tradition of several hours.

Wow. Just... Wow. Yay for Thomas White and his early-morning posts.

Just... Wow.

Eli did you edit the main post it says
"One of our new features is a super-easy way to attach your clan logo to all your comments here on the axis blog. Just email me your clan logo at axis@aadl.org, and I'll add it to the server. You can then include your clan logo in your post just by adding:

anywhere in your post, including in your signature! You can edit your signature on the 'edit' tab of your My Account page. Once you've added that tag to your signature, you'll never have to think about your clan logo again. Let me know if you run into any trouble or have any questions about this."

There isn't anything beyond adding.

First, I think may have to do something you aren't planning. The tournament seems to have garnered much word of mouth and I wouln't be surprised if we hit fire code &lt;_&lt;.

Second, Pickwick is probably the most awesome person I know &gt;_&gt;

This is indeed Eric Relson... No I'm not bringing my brother. My good friend Joe Crawley is coming instead (I hope). He's better than me, lol. In my case, I don't even own a console, all my SSBM experience is from playing with Crawley... for 2.5 or 3.5 (lost track) years.

Hmm, the release form works for me. You might try saving the file. Does <a href="http://www.aadl.org/files/minorrelease.pdf">this link</a> work any better?

Black Shark, no registrants yet from Clan Noise Machine. The Hurricane Katrina post was made to the AXIS blog by another staff member. The AXIS blog isn't supposed to only be about AADL-GT. Also, we will have some more sports events during the off-season, including some Madden tournaments the week of the Superbowl, but as you saw this summer, it's hard to get a good crowd.

Joe, Derek needs to create an account before he can register. However, the username 'Derek' is already taken, he'll need to pick another one, 'DerekV' or whatever. Tell him to email me at axis@aadl.org if he needs help.

Sravan, I'll get you your bonus for Ugo.

TP2, I don't know whether the thursday tournament at the Neutral Zone will be Kart or DDR. It may even be Super Smash. Turnout has been low, and if there's not enough people there for a DDR tourney, we'll do Kart or Super Smash instead. These events were done for the Neutral Zone's back-to-school week.

Black Shark, Duck is right again. You can only have 4 players total registered for your clan at any single tournament. You can't sub in the middle of the day. If your team is made up of two of your 4 clan members for that tournament, you'll get clan points. If it isn't, you won't.

1.something days until the tournament.

Also, sports games = bad for a regular season thing. Also, if there are going to be tournaments at the Neutral Zone, there should be more advertisement. Yeah.

I would also just like to point out that Leinad and I did all of the "do's: on that list of Eli's last time we commentatored. I don't know why I would like to point that out, but I would.

"Caboose: Look what I found!
Donut: Hey, <strong>I</strong> found it!!

Geese, Eli, u posted very early. This sucks, at at least duck"s team wont get many points either.

duck its 1 word that i have heard in G movies. lol black shark its geez not geese thats the animal that bites u if u go near it how do i know this dont ask. eli 1v1 march madness or FFA? also team melee wont be single elimination this time right. a word of advise for the mario kart commentators u have to keep track of 2 games at once for single and there will be 2 ppl on the screen so u have to know which one is top and bottom. eli who are the relif relif commentators me and galen? u guys been practicing cuz i got so much better i did very hard mode with no continuation. master hand is so hard one of his hits will KO u.

I wasn't there because I despise the Neutral Zone. Not so much the place, more the people who inhabit it. They've never really seemed to like me.

Also, continuing in Leinad's footsteps so to speak, I had a very bad day. Thank you.

Oh, Black Shark, the Vaccinated Monks clan will have no subs this time. All four regualr primaries will be there. And we will dominate the clan tournament this time around. And we will qualify for the Grand Championship Clan tournament. And we will win that too. And the iPod Shuffles.

And to top it all off, we finally have a clan Logo.

Boo-yah to the <em>face!</em>

[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Umm... Sravan... That was Me, not Leinad. And I can't put the logo up... I just sent it back to Eli after apporving some changes he made. So if he checks his email sometime tonight, he might put it up. If not, you'll just have to wait.

And we are going to win the Clan Tournament. Overall single-player, maybe not. Clan Tournament: Heck Yes!!
---
"Caboose: Sheeeeeeeilaaaaah! Come back to meeee! I made you a muffiiiiiiiiiiiiin!!"

Also, Eli, should the Commentators arrive any earlier than 12 to help setup or practice or something?
---
"Caboose: Sheeeeeeeilaaaaah! Come back to meeee! I made you a muffiiiiiiiiiiiiin!!"

oops i guess i am so tired that i didnt read that. lol tom we'll see... have u been practicing in melee that is the key game. with flare as our sub we will rule the melee tournament on saturday but yea joe and derek will show off their godly mkdd powers while galen and i cast our melee rituals. its a good thing the noise makers havent registered yet tom u are so lucky u didnt go last time. eli how many walk-ins are u estimating?
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

I assume that we'll arrive early again. Even just to arrive early if for nothing else. But I have flag auditions that morning at 10:00. So if those run too long I might not be able to get there early. I'll definately be there by 12 though.

"There is no spoon." -Neo

Sravan do you read at all. Joe just said "hey sravan, we need a sub cuz derek has to go to a party." So I don't think he is going to show of his <em>"godly mkdd powers"</em>.

I wouldn't say Melee is the key game I would say the single player events are the key to winning since as a clan you could get around 6000 points in single player events (not including surprize round) but only 3000ish points in Team events.

Well That's cool I gained 300 points to jump to 11th place. Oh and Pacman, Skippy and Sean all appeared out of nowhere to take top seats.

Fry: So, there’s an infinite number of parallel universes?
Professor: No, just the two.
Fry: Oh, well, I’m sure that’s enough.

Duck, if u guys have all 4 of ur primaries going, then what did u mean by "I guess u will have 2 take the point hit just like my clan?" Eli? I have Nick11 signed up as my partner 4 SSBM Team Event. He might leave before that, so is it ok if I can find a new partner at the tournament?

"I hate White Sharks"
[img_assist|fid=123|thumb=1|alt=Black Shark Clan]

<em>Last</em> tournament we had a sub leave half way though. That's why the Vaccinated Monk clan score was off.

Yeah, I've been practicing in melee a lot. However, I tend to lose skill if I play a week or so before a tournament (don't ask me why, I just do), so I've been spending my video game time this week blowing things up and running the streets in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. I love that game.

If I'm only playing the SSBM part of this event (starting 2:30), do I still need to sign in by 12? I'm already preregistered of course...

If we're only coming for the SSBM part of the tournament, do we have to come at 12 initially to sign up? Don't want to make an unnecessary trip to the library if I don't have to...

Oh guess you don't know about the other clans that are coming. First off MiniBlin's clan is coming and secondly Pickwick the Second (the guy that posted at 4am) has a clan with some pretty good people. Both these clans should score better then the BlackShark clan (sorry BlackShark but these guys are good). Plus if get half turn out for my promotions the VMC should be getting another 1800 points from new people.

Yes, Sravan. We did blatantly steal the nija head with the flames from the Halo 2 Multiplayer Emblems. But still, it looks awesome, so who really cares about copyright infringement, right? :-)

joe i meant the party was tonight and i just got back from it. IT WAS AWSOME. i played DDR for a while and i can do B4U on standard yay. there were all the hits, slow dances,a disco ball, and this kid freak dancing which was weird a teacher had to tell him to stop. ok i gotta teach our sub the shortcuts and stuff so it wont be too hard tommarow cuz im gonna go early but he can mini turbo, ironiclly he was the one to tell me about mini turbo lol. omid i am trying to IM u now but sign on ur other sn cuz its not working. heres what i am going to do tommarow. i will bring a pencil and paper(or eli will lend me some) and take every important clan's score while they are playing so if joe gets 1st in a mkdd race and duck gets 2nd then i put 100 in the TMC and 80 in the VMC(that is an example duck dont get worked up about it). o yea who was that guy posting at 4am shouldnt he be sleeping on a school day? noah just IMed me saying 13 1/2 hours till the tournament thanx noah...

ok the "important"clans are-TMC,SDK,TC1,VMC, and maybe BSC(lol BS)
is miniblin coming to the tournament?
ok some words of encourgement before the tournament. stalling is bad for ur health dont do it or u will be called a sissy for the rest of ur life. please dont disturbe other peoples games but i think eli is using the outside as a waiting room or something. is it ok to make a last minute change that i want the final match of team and single melee to be 2/3? i want my friend meng to fight tp2 in melee he uses marth(meng will probably win)he has beaten me a couple of times. eli will the commentary be outside of in the multipurpose room? can commentators request stations to watch cuz we wanna watch our friends(i wanna watch meng dominate melee). if and only if the noise makers come and they start playing i'm gonna take their symbols and shove them in the garbage. they will try to get them back but galen would have eaten them by then (jk galen).

the most important one is good luck and have a kick ass time.

duck got 1st,his new guy got 2nd,joe got 3rd, and piraty critter got 4th. it was better then the august tournament at least. the Vaccinated monks probably won the clan portion.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

The scores look a little weird. The VMC won that round easily. I love that we did Super monkey ball 2 my Cousins own it so I had played it a little several months ago.

i wish we did monkey target for the finals...woulda owned it.

I think that tournament was WAYYYYYYYY better than the august one...more fun. The only problem was that someone stole the drumstick...thats not cool, but the peace and quiet was nice...

and one last thing: I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! I'm thirty bucks richer! [img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

actually duck if those scores are correct then our clan wins. ur clan gets about 9000 points while we get 10000. joe derek isnt coming to any of the tournaments maybe we should replace him with meng but he is ur friend and if u dont want to then i understand.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Your right but wrong as always It looks like with these scores you win with 11358 not 10000 and we have 10219 not 9000. But I seriously think the scores are wrong because since we multiplied everything by 10 you shouldn't be able to get .5 points.

I would have to say that SMB2 wasn't the best prize round game. People who owned it had too much of an advantage. I had never played the game before so I only got 2000 points. The people who owned it had over 4000.

Eli, I figured out the prize round games. Monkey Ball was one of my 3 predictions. I think I know the next 2 too. I will do very, very well in one of them.

I think the VM won, but only because, of the prize round. W/O that they didn't do so well.

I think the surprize round should be academic competition, which would encourage people to study :) academics are entertaining. I hated monkey ball, it is like supersmash, either are good at it, or you are terrible. If we play games for the surprize round, they should be games that are easy to pick up.

BCL high schoolers would have an advantage in the academic competition cuz well u guys are older then us. galen and joe double qualified. who were the top 4 in team mario kart i know galen and joe got 2nd. tp2 was ur team in melee qualified for the suprise round?
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Gertlex you can participate until you go to collage.

Bebbles and I got 3rd in team Kart. I think jlgelinas got 4th in Team Kart.

<strong>*Edit:*</strong>
I found this tournament much better then last months. It was still a little chaotic but We had good commentating and it worked out well even though it went over the time limit.

Fry: So, there’s an infinite number of parallel universes?
Professor: No, just the two.
Fry: Oh, well, I’m sure that’s enough.

what scores are we talking about estimating?? and sravan read my email...it will be a tough elimination of a strong player but his lazy*** must go if he only makes one tourney. If he gets mad, i will just give him some "xbox" movies...ask galen...he will understand what i mean.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

nvm i found them on aadlgt...Wait since i am in second...Hold on i just want everyone to hear this again SECOND...Yeah i DID beat TP2, the guy who wasted me last year!

Anyways, since i am in second overall and double qualified, why am i not in bold and qualified for the grands? Is it just cuz it hasn't been updated?

And going by the scores, TMC wasted everyone cuz we got lots of points...i think

OH and one last thing: nice logo vaccinated monks. reminds me of halo so im gonna go play now pz out
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

yeah and one thing to TP2:
super monkey ball is the most simple game i have heard of! ALL YOU DO IS HIT A TO OPEN AND A TO CLOSE! JUST STEER TOWARDS A HIGH NUMBER AND HIT A! AND DUCK DOESNT OWN THE GAME! AND I HAVENT PLAYED THAT GAME IN YEARS! AND IF YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED ANY OF THE SUPER MONKEY BALLS, THEN YOU DONT DESERVE TO GET TO THE PRIZE ROUND CUZ ITS ONE OF THE GREATEST GAMES EVER THATS WHY THERES ONE FOR XBOX, PS2, AND GAMECUBE!!!!!!!!

yea its like the best party game ever. i played it at galen's house once when his friend brought it over and i played it in 5th grade at my friend's party but we did the race one. i am actually pretty good at the battle one and i am sorta good at the flying target one. o yea duck i estimated the scores for this tournament only not including last tournament so ha. yea joe we won by 1000 points. let me read ur email.

i am also planning a halo2 LAN party on october 8th and u are invited!

joe i think we are already in the clan cup so u dont need to recruit ppl but we are not sure yet so bring them anyway.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

I mean't academic competition such as trivia on a book, that perhapes would be told to us in advance so we could read it..... but good point Sravan.

Joe did you notice that people who had played the game before did better than those who hadn't. Obviously you and the other prize round winners had an advantage. I would have to say that it is pretty funny that Duck didn't own (although he said he played it frequently w/ his cousin) and you did and he won.

This tournament was run better than the last one, but there could still be some room for improvement. I still left that tournament with most of my voice lost and a headache.

hey thats a picture of eli! joe, eli said that if derek doesnt come to the next tournament then we can replace him with someone else but dont tell him to come let him come on his own that will show if he is interested or not. thats for u too galen i know ur computer is down though for like 2 weeks. members of the Vaccinated monks clan what colleges are u guys applying to? go MI even though they lost. eli can we orginize a mini prizeless tournament at the DDR thing? joe i might see u there where we can talk about the party.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

I had only played it once before. Although those two minigames were the ones we played the most. I never beat my cousins in target they always got 6-10 thousand.

Professor Hubert Farnsworth: I'm sorry, Fry, but astronomers renamed Uranus in 2620 to end that stupid joke once and for all.
Fry: Oh. What's it called now?
Professor Hubert Farnsworth: Urrectum. Here, let me locate it for you.
Fry: No, no, I, I think I'll just smell around a bit over here.

Myself and ampshock got fourth in team kart. I'd like to say that this tournament was a LOT better and quite a lot of fun, props to the tournament organizers =D. Single kart still takes too long though =P. Maybe only have two qualifying races, or, as people keep talking about the space behind the screen, maybe four more cubes? I had a blast and got pretty significant points from all four events, though I didn't get top four in the surprize round =(.

The surprize round, ehh. The people who had played it before did do better, but that's an inherency in the suprize round setup. The only way to counter that effect would be to use games obscure enough that no one has ever played it (nigh impossible, as bomberman generations showed), or tell everyone what the surprize round games will be ahead of time (effectively eliminating the "surprize" round).

Although, speaking of academic games as a surprize round, which in and of itself is a ridiculous suggestion, eli could post a riddle or something that reveals or at least hints at the surprize round game a few weeks before the competition. This wouldn't eliminate the experience discrepancy as it just gives other people the opportunity to get the experience advantage, but making that advantage somewhat a factor of skill (or at least intellectual prowress) would be a step up from random chance &gt;_&gt;. Not to mention I LOVE riddles &lt;_&lt;.

Hey, I've got an idea so there wont be any delays.
1. If there is only one car on each station, Eli should tell them 2 not touch the controllers and let him switch 2 2 controllers instead, Eli should announce this and if nobody listens and screws it up, Eli should give a point penalty or somethin', and those Noise Makers should get a point penalty every time they play loudly and if they lose a drum stick or have it stolen, well Eli shouldn't waste his time helping them look 4 a drum stick, because it's there fault, they should take those drum sticks and shove it, or how 'bout if they keep beating those drums, I'll "beat" their face in.

2. All of u veterans should watch each station, first we would need 2 know who the players r at that station, then we all can record the scores down 4 the 2 or 4 people playing at that station and then report 2 Eli, first u would have 2 tell us what each place score is though.

They're not going to look at it until Monday Moses. Most likely they won't get it sorted out until later in the week. They have all the data they just need to sort though it.

How did people get a single point? I can understand 5s and even .5 make sense but 1, 2 and 3 points just seem obscure.

<strong>Edit;</strong>
Why is my clan logo in the main post where the AADL-GT Pad Logo is suppose to be. I can see part of the Pad logo but my clan logo is over most of it.

Leinad's improvement ideas:

1) I'd really like to see more single Melee qualification matches. With only 2, one bad match can realy hurt you. I'd like to see a minimum of three even if we need to cut some time from other events to do this.

2) Single Player Mario Kart took half of our time. I don't know how you can cut it down without eliminating the content, but It does need to be shorter.

3) It was <strong>WAY</strong> to loud in there. I couldn't hear myself think. There were two reasons for this: The sheer number of people and the noise makers. One particular difficulty of this is that commentators are supposed to interact which is impossible when you can't hear the person sitting next to you. We need a solution to this problem. Here's two ideas:

Ban the drums. There's no point to just adding excess noise. They are so loud that you can't even have fun while they're playing. And the drum stick fiasco is just another reason to ban them (the drums not the players)

Encourage more people to watch from the TV in the other room. Perhaps find a bigger room for that (I don't know if one exists or not though)

4) In general, I'd like more qualification rounds but less qualifiers, like if you could give everyone 4 matches of Kart or Smash but then only take the top 8 for elimination. That would put more emphasis on skill than luck.

"There is no spoon." -Neo

I would agree with banning the drums. I had fun throughout the tournament except for the one match in which John D. was standing next to me playing the drums. It drove me crazy I couldn't hear anything from the T.V. so I made many mistakes and my attention was split between punching him (which I did after the match ended) and playing the game. After that round I felt like crap while every other match Win or Loss I felt great.

Fry: So, there’s an infinite number of parallel universes?
Professor: No, just the two.
Fry: Oh, well, I’m sure that’s enough.

Well, when I speak 4 all us I say that we should ban the drums, can we please ban the drums, please Eli?

TP2 I didn't think I could score that high but if you notice Joe also scored 5000 points. The highest I could see is 4000 points but It seems my math was wrong or Eli changed some of the scoring system.

the improvement ideas of anti snowman
1) melee and kart should be two different tournaments.
2) destroy free for all melee because a lot is luck, and there are so many campers. It should either be one on one or all teams, because then there will be no camping.
3) if we do Multiplayer melee then, the scoring system should be
"bonus" with no items since with stock and time, people just camp and snipe. However in bonus you get points based on fighting style, how many kills and how much damage you deliver. WIth no items you do not get all the crazy bonuses, like eating all food or whatever.
4) team melee is pretty nice, but there should be a champion team, My partner and I have not versed any spectacular team. BOOORRRRRIIIINNNG
5) ban drums, since i could not hear things in melee, which will affect the game. SInce you can't hear things like bom-ombs or whatever they are called, running towards you if someone is banging a drum right next to your ears

well BCL u copied some of leinad's ideas which were good by the way. i know i know all the slang but what does W/O mean tp2? BCL we only want 1v1 where it counts cuz A.it involves more skill and B.u cant team up which is y i lost in the top 16 thing. eli there should be more mathes to qualify in melee then mario kart so we can have melee be 3 matches and mario kart be 2. henry the 8th had 6 wives i think. the DDR tournament was fun we had a prizeless melee tournament(guess who won) and we had a team tournament. Ian won again but omid won the light bracket which was suprising. BCL wait till u face me and darksoul we will rock ur socks! we had to face badger's team he was good but his partner sucked so we won. who won team mario kart was it tp2 and his brother?

o yea BCL we had a disscussion on bonus and we dont want it. eli maybe we should change the melee rules to 2 minute time mode and thats it cuz it will save a lot of time and it will force u to go into combat. the only downside is the 1v1 where we should switch back to the normal rules. i beat piratey critter today(Aaron) and he got 3rd in single melee so i feel proud for my self!

i was suprised many people used fox at the tournament when in the august one people used roy and link

I'm not sure if we even need to worry about the noisemakers anymore, there was quite a bit more animosity towards them this time around and given the stolen stick and multiple minor assaults I think their experience was as lame as they were making everyone else's.

Assuming it's unfeasible to add a third four cube network behind the screen (which could <strong>instantly</strong> solve all our time problems, but might create logistical ones), we should re-consider the "play a cup model" for kart qualifiers (team and single). Having people play three races in a row means you'd have to make people switch stations one third as often (5 times instead of 15). Given that any station switching guarantees at least one last call for missing people (and the occasional lan reset), significant time could be saved. The only problem I see is that you'd have to play with the same 8 people for every race, which means you might want to a adopt a seeding system so you don't get a ton of historically successful karters playing out the finals in a qualifying bracket =P.

If you want a really rogue idea (that would also instantly solve time problems) on top of that you could forget about lan play for everything except finals and do four to a cube playing a real cup in grand prix mode. One third as many station switches and half as many necessary rounds would be drastically shorter. The loss in quality of the guaranteed rounds would be at least partially countered by getting four races for people who have no serious expectation of winning, as well as the improvement of the other segments by more time for three fights in meelee and not single elim team events.

As for the structuring of meelee events, there's not much that can be said since their quality thus far is an immediate consequence of kart's time monopoly. I'd like to point out that for single meelee finals, 1v1 single elim for 32 people would take 6 rounds (two 16 person rounds to get it down to 16, one to 8, one to 4, one to 2, one to 1), but if we do get 32 people playing single kart at once, that might be easily worked.

take top 16 for melee and 32 for mkdd but have 2 races for mkdd and 4-6 matches for melee. eli can we switch the FFA melee rules to 2 minutes time mode because it would save time and there is a less possibility for sudden death. jlgelinas the cup thing might not work cuz u have to race 4 times and u were there yesterday and saw how long it took if u raced 3 times. in the LAN options there is a choose course thing where u can set it to mushroom cup for something like that and u should be able to switch characters but i think no cups is the way to go! if u wont do 1v1 melee ever during the season then at least do it for the melee only tournament.i cant wait to beat the adults!

Good Morrow!

Firstly, I would like to thank Eli for a highly well-run event; the logistics of such an operation are daunting, and
Next, a hand for the noble commentators and contributors, including Major Tom, Duck, Leinad, Mouse, and Mandy!
Congratulations to all those fortunate enough to lay claim to victory (including, of course, myself:),) and especially to Duck, the overall champion!

It would appear, however, that the tournament was not altogether free of the sort of riffraff that lowers such occasions from their exalted level. By this turn of phrase, I refer to the despicable villains which, wielding drums and noisemakers, attempted to bring down other competitors to their level of skill by creating distractions. These base, sordid creatures were in possession not only of the general spite of the societal dreg of the variety that, believing itself to be incapable of rising, determines to behave as an anchor to the more successful of their former peers; no, they also demonstrated their astonishing temerity and insolence by directly accusing the entity to which I commonly refer by use of the perpendicular pronoun--I, the great Pickwick the Second, winner of the Individual SSBM Tournament!!--of engaging in petty larceny: of involvement in the Providentially-sent theft of a drumstick!
While I must admit having considered performing said act for the course of the entire afternoon, I believe that I was not alone in this, and it was not, ultimately, within the power of my exalted character to remove, even for a brief stint of time, an entity's property against that entity's will; I plead not guilty, and look foul scorn upon those who charge me of the deed. If I knew your identities, Sirs(though the justification for attaching such an honourary distinction to such vile, pugnacious, irreverent knaves passes beyond the limits of my comprehension,) I would remove my gauntlets and throw them at your feet; after which, as is customary, it would be your prerogative and requirement to name the location, time, and video game (SSBM or MKDD, naturally, or another mutually agreed upon) in which I would completely eliminate all vestiges of your last traces(if, indeed, any still exist, as there is nothing to warrant their remaining on this plane of existence) of pride in your "skills." In short, I would challenge you to a duel in the games that are featured in the tournament, at either of which I would, naturally, be victorious. If ye to whom I refer be out there and chance to read this, I would like to make this challenge official; respond if ye dare! I am,

Yours truly,

Good Morrow.

{Sigh...}
It has come to my attention that I have been described as being at least'half as annoying' as some unknown person's younger sister. This would, of course, be considered an insult when applied to any other entity, but with my keen skills of logic, it is immediately obvious to me that the originator of the paraphrased arrangement of words is intending to compliment both his sister and I, rather than disparaging me. Oh, and to answer the question "who am I?" I'm the only one who beat you in single melee. (I would insert a "smiley" at this point, but doing so causes my message to cut off abruptly.)

And, yes, Commentator Leinad, you are quite correct that no one has yet proved the Riemann Hypothesis; I would also agree that one major obstacle toward proving it is that few, if any, can understand what the Hypothesis really means (in answer to your question, BCL, I'm one of the many who don't understand it, so I can't explain it too well. Sorry! And Pre-Calc in 10th means you're a year ahead; good on you, sir!) I was merely hoping that someone on the forum had solved it without knowing about the $1,000,000 reward. One thing I do know, however, is that it involves very, very large prime numbers.

I will, however, take Monkeyman's implied advice into consideration and make an attempt at composing my essays in a somewhat less circumlocutous and lengthy fashion, though the end result might depend on several factors, a miniature sampling of which might include my mood, the quantity of caffeine in my system, and my general disposition toward the topic about which I am to write. I would like to apologise for any mental, physical, or emotional harm that may have been incurred by my posts (e.g. Carpal Tunnel from scrolling down for three pages over my last post), but I specifically exclude from this general apology the Noise Machines; if they contract Carpal Tunnel, they won't be able to beat drums as loudly as presently they are able.

Good Day!

PS: I would tend to favor meeting the time restrictions by keeping all four events but decreasing the number of races, or perhaps simply by starting a couple of hours earlier.

Stop using big words!! I have a small mental capacity! And do not understand what entity means. Also circumulocutus does not register in my limited vocabulary! You have caused me extreme mental damage from overloading my mind!
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

I'd rather like to see the four to a cube "grand prix mode" qualifier adapted as I see it as best serving the interests of all parties involved in aadl-gt. Historically successful players would be much more concerned about the finals and prize round, and the new set up would not particularly impede their ability to play in those, as the four player pods would be seeded and the finals would take place in the familiar LAN mode. Those who just come for the fun of kart would see a drop in quality of each race with a halving of their screen space, but would get an extra guaranteed race and more guaranteed rounds in other events. All those who are primarily interested in melee would reap the greatest benefit from the oodles of extra time that could be alotted to their half of the program. It is also logistically simpler as there are far fewer station switches and scores only have to be aggregated and recorded at the end of each cup.

I have no experience in four player splitscreen kart, so I can not reply to pr0's statement about performance lag, which is the only objection thus far brought against the new model, but a significant one. Perhaps the claim's validity could be tested at various peoples' conveniences and the results relayed to eli for reference in making his decision, but unless the lag is truly pervasive enough to hinder the conduction of races, I would not mind playing under such conditions.

u guys made 15 comments in like 2 and a half hours wow.

OK, I think everone on here <strong>really</strong> needs to stop complaining about their standings in the tournament. So you lost, boo-frickedy-hoo. Stop trying to make excuses; "Oh, I had a strong bracket!" "Oh, I was tired!" "Oh, they ganged up on me!" "Oh, items aren't fair!" Waah waah wahh! Nobody cares why you lost, the fact is that you lost. I know it's kind of hard to come to terms with the fact that your now sterling record has been tarnished by a loss at a tournament, when up until now your record against four Lv. 9 computers was perfect, but you guys should get used to it. That's the thing about Melee. <strong>PEOPLE CAN INDEED BE BETTER THAN YOU!!!</strong> I came to terms with it a long time ago, and so should the rest of you.

And no, we shouldn't do split-screen four player Kart. If someone gets a bad player/kart combination, they're screwed over for the whole cup. There's a couple of possible solutions to this. We could:
a)Start earlier, end later
b)Split the tournament up into two weekends
Either of these are possibly feasible options, and I wouldn't have a problem with them.

---
"Caboose: Sheeeeeeeilaaaaah! Come back to meeee! I made you a muffiiiiiiiiiiiiin!!"[mygtclanlogo]

In reply to by tomcove6888

Sorry, Tom, neither a nor b is feasible. We can't start earlier or change days, as there are already flyers out there announcing the start time. The library closes at 6, and we went until 5:45 last weekend.

However, remember that we're not talking about 4-player LAN mode. We're talking about a regular old 4-player standalone grand prix. You would get to choose your characters and kart. Wouldn't that be a trip, and a whole new angle to the event. What do you think about that? Although, now that I think about it, there is no 4-player grand prix, only 2-player, so so much for that idea. If you're not opposed to the small screen of a 4-player race, we can think of something. If you think we shouldn't go lower than 2 players per station, now's the time to make your voice heard....

Pickwick, you need not worry about overtaxing our servers. They are capacious. Also, when weighing our respective posts in the balance, you may wish to bear in mind that my participation here is a function of my employment. Thou art not found wanting. =)

I don't think we should go more than two people per screen. It's bad enough to cut it in half by putting two people per screen, let's not exacerbate the problem by cutting the available area in half again just to get more people through.

We should make all of the rounds past the first set of qualifications quad- or dual-elimination (Only the top 4 or top 2 go on), or something. It's not really feasible, I don't think, to just have two matches of Melee for qualification, because you can do one really good match and one really bad match, and there goes your chances against someone who got 2nd twice.

Obviously, no solution is going to please everybody, but I guess we have to try to do something.

<em>Leinad, are you still interested in string theory? (I seem to remember that you were Pioneer's resident expert on the subject.) There's a new book out by Brian Greene about superstring theory and other aspects of particle theory that I think you might be interested in; I think it goes by the title "THE ELEGANT UNIVERSE," but that might be an earlier book by the same author.</em>

Indeed. I am Pioneer's resident String Theory "expert". The Elegant Universe is Brian Greene's first book, which I absolutely love and recommend to anyone who is interested in relativity, quantum mechanics or string theory. His second, more recent book is entitles The Fabric of the Cosmos and deals with the nature of Spacetime. It is another interesting read, but is much harder to understand. I haven't found the time to quite finish it yet either. However, I will check and see if I can find any mention of a third book by the author, since you say new book and I loved his first two.

<em>While many are merely slight verbal missteps, some are, to use a term which seems to have occurred on the forum, '"ROFL" funny,' wherein I take ROFL to be an acronym for "Roll On the Floor Laughing."</em>

I really hope that that's short enough for my sig on GameFAQs.

Anyways, regarding split screen, I think 8 player is much better than 4 player, so I'll do any type of screen as long as it's still 8 player kart.

edit: after some exploration with Google, I've concluded that Brian Greene has yet to write a third book.

"Faulheit ist eine Tugend"

tom u are a very good sport and im not gonna try to insult u but those arguments were unfair except the im tired and i had a cramp and stuff. pickwick i accept your apoligie and i cant belive i read ur entire post.

eli picking characters is unfair cuz there are some kart that are good(toad) and some that are bad(DK). actually in august last year i thought we could pick characters and when eli told me and wenbo that it was random i was like OMFG and we raced in mushroom bridge and i got the DK car. wenbo got 1st,eli got 2nd, and i got 3rd.

melee first is a really good point that i agree with and i think that we should do it. more people come for the melee and when they realize that they lost and there are ppl better then them they can leave.

eli the system that we have now(2 ppl split screen, 3 races to qualify, random characters, random cars, random stages) is the way to go. u know the clans that won tournaments cuz of the suprise round shouldnt get their hopes up cuz the clan cup is mkdd and melee only!

but i think we should do melee first becuase we can do 1v1 march madness and more ppl are registered for that. so who wants melee first? 1-yes 0-no
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Man Sravan you sour just because you lost.

Oh and Sravan I explained to Pickwick today that you have double standards. So I think he realized that he didn't need to apologize, because if you had a match with Galen you would have done the same.

Oh and read this Sravan: <em>
"I'm not sure yet what form the clan cup will take, other than I don't want it to take too long, so it's going to be a little cutthroat. Because we could have as many as 8 clans qualified (if none of the single-round Clan Champs are top 4 at the end of the season), it may not involve much qualification play. It will probably involve Kart and Smash Brother elements, with a <strong>surprize finisher</strong>... more on that later."</em> I had to look though several blogs to find the most recent post on the actual clan cup and this was it and it was posted Sat, 07/09/2005 - 9:23pm.

"Yes, it's a perfect scale model of the universe's largest bottle. I put a tiny spaceship inside to keep it from being boring."-Professor F.

haha but no duck. im not sour i didnt even say anything offensive i was just saying teaming up is unfair so we should do 1v1. GO 1v1.

that was 2 monthes ago so i think he changed his mind about that but eli can we NOT have a suprise finisher for the clan cup. its bad enough we have it for the single tournament.

y would u look in those blogs just to make a point? do u high schoolers know what challenge day is? we had ours today and it was weird everyone was crying and hugging eachother...
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Look Sravan I checked the blogs most recent to least recent and that was the most recent comment on it.

We have a Challenge Day. To my understanding it is a frivolous attempt to have <em>normal</em> people care about those that are downtrodden in life.

Oh I just want to point out. Of everyone that goes to the tournament I am most likely the only person that plays at elimination round level with Items. So everyone stop saying that if we didn't have Items on that you would have won, unless you’re talking to me.

noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i wanted the last post on the pax page!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you guys are sooooo mean

after reading only the first line of pickwicks post i got an idea, lets try to make this blog as long as possible so that it would be impossible to find anything.

Pick wick, that post on this page (the long one) is four pages long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Eli-ohhh man do i have an idea!
Okay. Get this. At 12:30, you print out like 50 schedules of when people are getting up to play and where they are playing at. Make sure that there is one taped on each table and station and then have a bunch of loose copies around with another schedule posted by the little stairs that are next to station 4. This would be repeated for the next event at like 3 or whatever. When it came to eliminations, you would just announce it. This would save a small amount of time due to the fact that people would know when to not go bathroom and they would be ready to go to their stations immediately. If staff was sufficient enough(maybe make it a volunteer project) there could be a staff member supervising each station to immediately record scores and set up lan mode if it gets disconnected. This is only a suggestion and though it would only save a small amount of time, i think that every minute counts...

heres my commentating tryout:
"Pr0 is about to execute the DK mountain half-pipe move which is a simple driving trick that is performed by powersliding up the side of the DK mountain hill and jumping to the other side of a cliff rather than making a real narrow and tedious turn. Now he has just jumped in to first place, proving how useful this trick really is. With a certain amount of control on this homestretch on the tilting bridge, he may just pull off a another win for the uber amazing trouble monkey clan."
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Bravo joe i love your commentating tryout. eli let joe commentate.

u guys havent said if u wanted melee first come on.

joe's system works very well but how will we know the exact timings of the races.
[img_assist|fid=97|thumb=1|alt=Trouble Monkey Clan|caption=Logo for the AADL-GT Trouble Monkey Clan.]

Funny commentating while the half pipe trick is good to know it has a few problems one is if you get bumped at any point you significantly lower your chance to make the jump the other is that it is extremely easy to block that path with a harmful item especially if you do the maneuver before placing the item down.

Melee first is fine with me. It just means we have to set-up any lan connections during Pizza.

sweet Post 222.

I have no preference on the order.

Speaking of commentating, although MK:DD is still my first commentary choice, I'd like a shot at a Melee game as a back-up commentator or something.

And I have a question. I know that this forum is used to post lots of things unrelated to AADL-GT, but does anyone outside of us and library staff actually read it? We're certainly the only ones who have posted any comments.

Dear Tom and possibly Pro,
this was the part pro's post regarded my loss at the hands of darksoul:umm flare remember that white marth aka darksoul yea he beat u and he sometimes beats me and he is very skilled. he regrets selling his gamecube for an xbox....

notice this patticular comment: yea he beat u, is it jusst me or does sound at least a little bit demeaning and/or insulting? Dont bother anwsering because it doesn't matter to me if i am the only 1 who thinks something. My point is (And i will put it in caps) DON'T LOOK AT THE WORLD IN BLACK AND WHITE

this is my reply to pro's somewhat insulting comment: yea i remember that but if i hadn't been falling asleep things definitly would of been different give me a 1v1 battle with no items there would be no contest i saw the way he fights and i know that style's weakness. And i can beat you sometimes so don't just judge on 1 battle that can be a very big mistake

1)the falling alseep comment was just 1 out of many reasons why i lost
2)when i said "things would of been different" i am not saying that i would of won, but that the outcome of the macth could have been thrown into who made the first mistake or something along those lines.
3)the no contest comment was a mix of cockyness, lack of knowing my opponent's preferred playing style,(in this case with or without items.)and my next comment in that post.
4)Last but not least my don't judge on 1 battle comment should go without saying

So tom first off i have to say i wasn't complaining, and i came to terms with people being better than me a long time ago.Second the reasons i gave in my earlier post were not as much reasons as they were variables. But by posting your post you have the honor of being the second thing on my list. The first being Red Mage's hat.
Thank you for reading this Tom and Possibly Pro.(Assuming you read this of course)
Sincerly, (but not too sincerly)
Flare
P.S. If Tom doesn't get the list comment and you do, don't tell him, I want him to figure it out for himslef.

P.P.S. Pickwick a series out of 5 sounds great

P.P.P.S. i would prefer melee first

P.P.P.P.S. this may be a little to late but the reason i posted particuraly to Tom a possibly Sravan (Pro) is because i dont want to have people like fduck annoyed at me for posting sort of off topic

Good Morrow!

I would like to weigh in in favor of reversing the order and beginning with Melee.

Have you ever considered how difficult it would be to locate a specific person (or persons) in Mongolia, where there are few or no landmarks for much of the steppe? It might be possible to do via satellite or "Predator" spy drone thermoimagery, but the idea is that, using a fresh herring sandwich, we tunnel due north while approximately 38.4872938 feet underneath the Eastern Gobi Desert, beginning from the underground tomb of the Emperor Qin, until we reach Ulan Baator (still underground, of course.) At this point, we turn 132 degrees to the right and continue digging, though without the herring sandwich, which, by this time, will have gone bad. Eventually, our tunnel system will extend all the way to the Pacific Ocean, at which point we train a team of porpoises to carry us across to San Francisco Bay, where each will stand upright abruptly and put on a tweed coat; velveteen trousers; a green-and-orange striped silk handkerchief; a monochle; and a deerstalker cap, and explain, in English, the meaning of the phrase or name 'Pensar TOrtuga,' after which they will challenge us to a hand of Euchre.

I really don't have time right now to fully develop the idea that I've lost control of my mind, but I promise to return to this subject another time; it interests me.

Good Day!

PS: I think I'll leave this space blank next time.

-----The Right Honourable High Lord Most Supreme Executive Marquis de la Pickwick the Second, esquire, Member of Parliament, K.C.-----

Good Morrow!

It is, then, settled; let it hereby be enrolled in the records of the stars that Flare and Pickwick the Second are to be pitted against each other in single combat to the death, with a first-to-five stipulation for victory.

Were it to take place now, without ever having seen you play I can safely assume that you would win; I'm having a very hard time keeping my eyes open long enough to type even just a word at a time.

Good Day.

PS: <blank space!!>

Lol, Duck. We definitely need to do that.

As for Flare, I neither know nor care whatever it means to be on your "list". I wasn't talking to anybody specific, so don't take it like a personal insult when I say something.

I think that Joe Smolarski should be allowed to commentate. It gives more balance. We could alternate between me and Leinad for the other spot, to have less of a bias when it comes to commentating.

Ok, nobody else post anything as long as Thomas White does, it only encourages him to post entries that, while entertaining, take up a lot of space.

I just had a random thought, Eli: Would it be at all possible to create separate message boards on here for each clan, or at least anyone that the clan allows to see them? I know we could email eachother or something, but it'd be a lot easier to have everything in one place, rather than having people make their own websites.

Like The Turtle Clan. Speaking of which, TP2, you need to make your website a lot harder to find if you want to share strategy and stuff on there.

"<em>tom u are a very good sport and im not gonna try to insult u but those arguments were unfair except the im tired and i had a cramp and stuff.</em>

OK, how are those arguments unfair? That's the whole <strong><em>POINT</strong></em> of games like Melee and Kart. They're designed in such a way that someone who is bad can have something happen to swing the race or match in their favor. I know it's not fair to those of you who put hours of training time in, who look up all the secrets of your character online, who <strong><em>PAY</em></strong> people to train you in melee (there are people who do this, I swear), etc., but you just have to get over the fact that randomness is a part of the game, and you have to overcome it and deal with it when it happens.
---
"Caboose: Sheeeeeeeilaaaaah! Come back to meeee! I made you a muffiiiiiiiiiiiiin!!"[mygtclanlogo]

Someone that is a true expert can overcome virtually any set back for the win. And it is fair, someone that only studies physics won't score well when they take a physics and biology test irf it's half physics and half biology, it not a problem of the game being unfair but of you practicing the wrong part.

Pickwick why weren't you in Chem Lab today?

Major Tom is dead on; luck is, and always should be (in my humble but entirely unilateral opinion) a major factor in videogame tournaments. That's what makes them exciting. It's not a test of who can best wiggle their thumbs; it's a test of who can best adapt to changing random conditions.

As for you, Mssrs. Duck and Pickwick, that will be quite enough of your little recursive filibuster. I have a cloture button that requires not a single vote of support; don't make me use it as I have elsewhere.

Muhahaha.

Good Morrow!

In response to your question, Duck, no, I was not in attendance at the social institution known, colloquially, as "school," due to a debilitating condition brought on by (or, as suggested by my younger brother, 'facilitated by') lack of sleep.

Mr. King of Geeks, it will not be necessary to push the red button; the 'nuclear option' is undemocratic and, I am sure, an unpalatable choice. I will, however, cease to continue increasing the length of my posts, especially by use of the command pair "control-c" and "control-v;" as Duck has ceased to compete for the position that I now believe myself to hold, there is no logic that supports continuing to spend hours on each message when all that I have to say can be split into smaller, increasingly readable sections of text. I will comply with your demand as stated.

Good Day!

Good Morrow.

In response to the harsh accusation, made via implication, of being off-topic in my ramblings, I must point out that, the tournament having occurred at a time very definitely in the past, the original subject to be discussed is now defunct. While there is, still, much relevance to further discussions regarding alterations that may be made to next month's tourney, such discussions occur but infrequently, and thus there would exist little use for this forum should it, indeed, be restricted to business-related usage. That said, I have no objection, be it explicit or implicit, if any entity is willing to open a venue that is intended for general discussion and informal communication.

Regards,

-----Pickwick the Second-----

Tom, I'm looking into forums, it may be pretty easy, especially if we don't try to close any of them... more to come.

Ok I will never try posting longer then pickwick agian it took way to long to respond to everything and he responded to fast.

Were you at school at all pickwick?

Good Morrow!

I do beg your pardon for raising your hopes, Commentator Leinad; upon further investigation, I found that it was only a new edition of THE ELEGANT UNIVERSE, containing a new preface by the author. My younger brother purchased it a few months ago, and he agrees that it makes for a very interesting read.

Ah, well; bhg bnn (this was typed by one of my cats, who leapt onto the keyboard before springing up onto the printer; hope nobody's allergic...)
BCL, that is a rather interesting idea; I imagine that, in time, my sporadic extended posts will cause this forum to increase beyond thirty pages or so, but this would occur only in the extended time frame; thus, it would be more efficient if others would aid me in clogging the information superhighway with words. I think it is only fair for me to accord myself the Keeper of the Rules with regard to forum-filling activities, given my career-long endeavors in this field, and as my first act, I will lay out the ground rules:
1. Posts must, of course, contain character strings that, once assembled, mean something, and they cannot contain excessive amounts of empty space. A convenient example is the filibuster; used on the floor of the Senate, this technique involves using the Senator's special right to unlimited debate time in order to stall a vote or other legislative process. The Senator performing this act may stand at the front and read aloud from a phonebook if he/she so chooses, but they must be speaking AT ALL TIMES, and I've never heard of a Senator uttering streams of gibberish while at the podium.

2. As with the Cloture Vote that may be invoked in the Senate, if a sufficient number of people feel that it is worth the effort of NOT achieving the goal of this quest (of sorts), we, or, to be precise, all those other than myself engaging in said activity, must immediately disengage. As Tournament GrandMaster Eli pointed out so eloquently, I tend to write in the manner in which I tend to write, so ceasing to do so would be out of the question.

3. In the event that the Library server is, after some years, bogged down with unnecessary, frivolous, and otherwise useless posts, I am of the opinion that we should celebrate our success by fleeing to Inner Mongolia, where we should be safe for an indefinite period of time from the wrath of irate Library patrons and staff.

Who's with us in our mission to enter a useless--nay, outright harmful!!--course of action?

On a side note, why do so few people post on or read this forum? It certainly holds many interesting posts...

Good Day!

PS: Why did I start this tradition of adding a postscript to every post? It is unnecessary and time-consuming.
I know; it's because I was writing in at uncatly times in the morning.

-----Pickwick the Second-----

Pickwick the second where are you from? I mean nationality, the way you write on the blog is very interesting.

don't get cocky, you won the ssbm but some of it was luck, like pro said. Personally, I did not do so well on single melee because I had really hard brackets. If items were off, and there was no time limit the score would be a different story.

I hope I will verse you in melee next tournament.
Are you in a clan Pickwick the second?

I think you should look at the leaderboard, considering you only participated in one round and scored a decent amount of points your rank is pretty good, congratulations, but watch out, especially in team melee...

Pickwick the second is in a clan with DragoonBlack (3rd in single melee), FES and Beast From The East I belive.

Fry: So, there’s an infinite number of parallel universes?
Professor: No, just the two.
Fry: Oh, well, I’m sure that’s enough.

thanks Duck, by the way, how did you get like 5,000 points because i thought you had like 800 or something before round 2, how many points max can you get per round?

李 治 學 leaving

Auf Wiedersehen-

I had 485 from round 1. So I received a little over 5500 points. I don't have much clue as to how I accumulated so many. I won every match I was in except 2. One was in the elimination rounds of MKDD (with John D. Standing next to me), the Other was in The elimination rounds of Melee and in Team Melee my team stepped down and got a point bonus.

So when we were saying we didn't have any signal we really did. That amazing that means blac...I mean "MOSES" was really commentating on the surprize round.

Fry: "Who are you people?"
Al Gore: "I'm Al Gore. And these are my vice presidential action rangers. A group of top-nerds whose sole duty is to prevent disruptions in the space-time continuum."
Fry: "I thought your sole duty was to cast the tie-breaking vote in the Senate."
Al Gore: "That, and protect the space-time continuum. Read the Constitution."

Ok, I've got the single player scores straightened out, but clan scores still to come. A few tidbits:

If you graciously stepped down from a match to keep things moving, you received a 200 point bonus. In the team melee event, where we didn't have the final two matches to place the four winning teams, all teams received a 200 point bonus as well.

For monkey target scores, I have reduced all scores by a factor of 10 and rounded to the nearest 10. Monkey fight scores were simply rounded.

<em>"Duck and Joe don't get so confident about your scores. Duck if those scores are right you scored more than anyone could Possibly Score your clan did well, but only because, of the surprise round. W/O that I think the monkeys took it."</em>

Yes, Steven, that is a correct assessment of the situation. However, last time I checked, and unfortunately for the Trouble Monkeys, the Prize round <strong>is</strong> still part of the tournament. So, too bad for them, we still earned those points.

Second of all, I would just like to point out that Bubblingbeebles, who has never been to one of these tournaments before, earned 2125 points for <strong>ONE</strong> tournament's participation, whereas everyone else 1-7 on the single player leaderboard has accumulated points over 2 tournaments. I defy any of you to say that that is not an amazing display of skill. If you did defy me, you would be wrong, and I would laugh in your face. So, don't defy that, because you can't.

Also, whenever Eli gets around to adding recruitment bonuses, the Vaccinated Monk clan will be 58 points ahead of the Trouble Monkey Clan, and will therefore be on top.

w00t.

tom wtf y are u using our logo? u guys did win cuz of the suprise round and bubbling beebles got a 800 point bonus for the suprise round too.some suggestions
1.i'm glad eli considered making it 2 minute time mode it would go faster and have less sudden deaths and it forces u to move into combat if u wanna win
2.the melee scores were still messed up a 1st and 3rd should be the same as 2nds
3.please lei lets not do 4 player split screen its so laggy at the madden tournament we did that and it was horrible.
4.eli even though we dont ever do 1v1 march madness are we gonna do it if we have time for october?
5.eli for the october melee only tournament i think we should have 6 qualifying matches to get your score up, then get the top 16 and do march madness 1v1.
6.there should always be more qualifying matches for melee then mario kart.
7.what are the prizes for the melee only tournament?
8.this is an add-on to number 4 but 1v1 is better because it involves more skill, people can't complain about camping, there is the no teaming up factor me and meng didnt get into the top 4 cuz of that i think dragoon black and this other kid teamed up on me...

well anyway tp2 and I havent got any points out of the prize round and we are in the top 5!

Two more comments:

1) Eli - I assume that you're going to review the commentary from this round on the video before deciding commentary for October? Because I couldn't hear anything at the tournament commentary-wise, and I assume that with running things, you couldn't either.

2) I know that this is kind of crazy. But what about dropping single player melee and doing more 2v2 melee? It eliminates the stalling arguments, moves people through faster without 4 player free for alls and allows for more matches by eliminating and event. Obviously there are downsides, but I just thoguht I'd throw the idea out there.

"Faulheit ist eine Tugend"

lol leinad that would never work cuz single player things are what we need for clans as duck said they are the main events and people who dont get a partner sometimes cant play melee. if we do 1v1 for elims i am fine.

Good Morrow!
I would like to take this opportunity to repeat several posts which have been made regarding me, and to respond to several of them. Thusly, the questionable grammar and spelling are not attributable to me, but are, I'm sure, due to the speed at which the original authors composed their messages.

ok pickwick u got so lucky against my friend meng it was sudden death and a bomb hit both of u guys but he died first so u won. he would pwn u 1v1 but u are still a very good player

This description of events is completely accurate as to the facts of the matter, but when it enters the realm of speculation, who can say? It is certainly true that the game was won by chance; neither of us was willing to risk hitting the other during Sudden Death, and I was so convinced I had lost that I had actually left the console fully 3.3846 (repeating) seconds before being informed that I had won. During the match, I played with an unfair advantage, as I knew one of the other competitors, and this is something I am certainly ashamed of and will not repeat; I do, however, believe that I would have won in single combat, and would be most willing to attempt it could a meeting place and time be arranged. Next month's tourney would likely be most convenient, if we are, indeed, pitted against each other once more.

Pickwick the second is in a clan with DragoonBlack (3rd in single melee), FES and Beast From The East I belive.

This is, to the best of my knowledge, an accurate summation of affairs.

Pickwick the second where are you from? I mean nationality, the way you write on the blog is very interesting.

Why, thank you, Goodsir BCL! Actually, I am from the State of Washington, on the West Coast of this continent. I was but a small child when my family elected to transport themselves to this noble city of Ann Arbor, in which I have resided for nigh on fourteen years. I am very much a product of my environment; that is to say, I write in a manner similar to those of many of the authors whose books I have perused myriad times. Your praise, assuming that you intend 'interesting' to be taken as a compliment, is much-appreciated!!!
Coffee also aids in the process of crafting prolixitous posts.

don't get cocky, you won the ssbm but some of it was luck, like pro said. Personally, I did not do so well on single melee because I had really hard brackets. If items were off, and there was no time limit the score would be a different story.

In response to this, I must edify you as to the nature of my character choices. The character I played with at competition, Marth, is generally my SECONDARY; when playing with items, I tend to favor a faster, more nimble character in order to facilitate dodging. In the event, though, that items are off, I play with Ganondorf, and the Right Honourable Sir Duck can attest to the fact that I am a dangerous competitor. The time limit also hindered my usual playing style. I think that we can agree that playing without items and time limit would generate different stories, but not all stories have different endings.
I would also like to point out that I had played both games exactly twice in the past several months, which fact accounted for the layer of rust that spanned a depth of three-foot two; most will be gone by tournament next.
I do hope that none of this comes across as overbearing, condescending, or arrogant; I'm afraid my head may have swelled significantly at the competition. IN ANY CASE, I would, of course, be more than agreeable to any 'challenge matches' that may be scheduled, with any person or persons.

I hope I will verse you in melee next tournament.
Are you in a clan Pickwick the second?

I am, indeed, in a clan, the 'Foreign Exchange,' so titled because each member comes from a different ethnicity. We were new to the concept of the tournament this month, and especially the specifics of the Mario Kart competition (we had been operating under the impression that entrants would be able to select their own Karts, having never participated in a LAN game.)

I think you should look at the leaderboard, considering you only participated in one round and scored a decent amount of points your rank is pretty good, congratulations, but watch out, especially in team melee...

I agree with your assessment: Team Melee was the venue for a series of unforgivable errors on my part; my distinguished partner, Dragoon Black, would probably have been better off without me in some of the battles, most notably our final one, in which I quickly disposed of three of our collective lives. This is to be the subject of as much individual and team practice as can reasonably be fit into my busy schedule, and I hope to be more of an asset than a liability come next competition. Given that both of us were in the top three contestants in singles, my failures seem especially egregious. A character change is certainly not out of the cards...

His Honour, Pickwick the second, makes some excellent points. It is only fair that The Noise Machine should be given an opportunity to defend their license to use drums at the tournament. However, instead of a game battle, they simply need to make their case here, in this very forum, and sufficiently refute Mr. Pickwick's arguments. If they succeed from my sole perspective, the drums may return. If they fail, their percussion license will be revoked for the remainder of the season.

It is my honour to again express gratitude to the able arranger of competitions; I would beg to differ, though, with the premise that an in-forum discussion or argument would suffice, as I feel that my unimpeachable character has been besmirched by the parasitic poltroons in question. The severity of the ocasion calls, in my mind, for some form of revenge, preferably in the form of a contest involving skills at video games. As the recipient of the insult in question, it is my right, and my duty, to answer with a challenge. That they don't read the forum (according to Duck) is something of an impediment to my ambitions, but, having delivered my scathing rebuke, I feel that my honour has been satisfied on all points. If they fail to respond, it is yet another symbol of their fearful and cowardly natures; if they do, I will, of course, best them at whatever competition is proposed, and my escutcheon is improved by the encounter.

Wow. Just... Wow. Yay for Thomas White and his early-morning posts.
Just... Wow.

Yes, it was somewhat early, but how did you identify me? I don't recall declassifying any information regarding my identity for inspection by the general public. It is just possible, of course, that I may have told you in person, which would explain the lack of documentation with regard to the publication of this knowledge.

Dear, Pickwick the Second
Have you Preregistered? If so Good if not DO IT. You and your clan my not be able to be walk ins.
PS: You scare me.

Thank you!

I am not planning on turning anyone away this month. If the turnout is huge again, I'll announce during the tournament how registration will work for october.
p.s. pickwick is awesome.

Well, one doesn't like to blow one's own horn, but there seems to be no response more fitting than a bow. Which action, now performed, leads me to the next topic.

First, I think may have to do something you aren't planning. The tournament seems to have garnered much word of mouth and I wouln't be surprised if we hit fire code <_<.
Second, Pickwick is probably the most awesome person I know >_>

Again, I must extend my deepest gratitude. {Bows}

HA HA HA HA HA I got a new page!

Auf Wiedersehen-

Pickwick is the title character of Charles Dickens' first published novel, entitled (it is not within the admittedly vast realms of my knowledge how to do so, but the title should, of course, be underlined) THE PICKWICK PAPERS. This was a work unlike any of Dickens' others in that it was an extremely amusing story in which, at least to my mind, themes and motifs were, while certainly important, less prominent than the humour itself; in the other works I have read (which, I believe, include all but HARD TIMES,) the story itself takes precedent and uses Dickens' remarkable wit as a method to lighten the deep morals and messages.
As for the reason I chose my name, I would be forced myself to admit to being in possession of a lack of certainty on that point. I was attempting to create a Yahoo Account with a name based loosely on supporting Barack Obama's hoped-for 2008 Presidential run, but, as it turns out, other than the five I had previously utilized (and locked myself out of due to a late-night password change!), there were few, if any, still available. I tried seventeen different combinations, then sat back, racking my brain; it was at this moment that my current nom de plume appeared in my head. Given that Dickens appears in only second place on my list of authors worth the substantial investment that would be required in order to facilitate their cloning, it seems odd to me that this would pop, unasked for, into my head. It is now my screen name on multiple account names; he who so wishes, may email me at pickwickthesecond@yahoo.com .

While it is true that we beat the Black Shark Clan, I do not feel that we performed adequately, and we will try to make up for it next month.

Aside from my Post-Script, which will, course, follow, I think this message is complete. It is my firm belief that I have responded to all those comments which might be said to address me, which, while, of course, being completely unnecessary, has amused me for the past hour or so.

Till Next Post,
I remain,
Pickwick the Second

Good Morrow!

PS: Duck, were you absent from school today?
And, going along with page three's 'trivia questions' theme, I would like to ask: can anyone here prove the Riemann Hypothesis to be either true or false?

Okay, I'm not reading that Wall of Text, but in answer to your trivia question, no one can, because no mathematician has done it and many have tried for a long time. There is currently a large reward ($1,000,000?) out for proving it.

Another reason that no one here will be able to prove it is that no one here will understand it. I read the theorem and it sounded like another language, I literally understood none of it.

"Faulheit ist eine Tugend"

Thomas the reason both Major Tom and I knew who you were was because no one else would start with Good Morrow!

I was at school my 5th hour was in the media center. That should explain it's self.

Yes, pickwick is scary with Gannon.

Really well I'm glad that you are good with both marth and gannon, because there are too many n00bs using marth. I was really dissapointed that i didn't fight any one who was decently good with Marth at the tournament. I dont like the idea of getting rid of single ssbm, That was the reason that i came to this round of aadl-gt.

Pickwick if you wouldn't mind i would like to play you in ssbm during open play at the next tournament if you are going,
and if we have it

why does the clan leaderboard say that tmc won? If we never win a tournament, can our clan still get in to the december clan cup?

I agree with leinad.

I think that it would be great if the noise makers played some cool beats like i was doing. I saw some people nodding their heads to the beat when i was playing their drums...otherwise i greatly disprove of their lame distractions.

pickwick i cant understandeth thou.

Eli-i wanna commentate cuz you know i have good knowledge about mariokart at least...i dont think i wanna commentate for melee though...

Joe the reason your clan is in the lead is because your clan has accumulated more points over the last two tournaments then any other clan even though other clans beat you in the individual tournaments. If you stay in the top 4 you automatically qualify for the clan cup.

Fry: "Why am I sticky and naked? Did I miss something fun?"

You all ought to know by know that I have a healthy respect for erudition, and it's not often that a post actually raises the quality of a thread. Especially not 'round these parts.

His Honour, Pickwick the second, makes some excellent points. It is only fair that The Noise Machine should be given an opportunity to defend their license to use drums at the tournament. When we have finalized the scores, i'll make a post about it. What you see now is the raw data from the tournament; close, but likely to change.

Lots of excellent suggestions here, too. I really like reducing the time limit to 2:00. It always seemed that not much was happening in the last minute. We do plan to move the entire video booth and the commentators, into one of the small rooms nearby, including 8 monitors to watch every station. It should be awesome. Remember, I will be announcing the commentators for the October in the final week before the tournament. Also, jlgelinas, as always, makes some excellent suggestions, which makes me want to ask you this:

If it meant you could have 4 whole races for single-player kart, would you be willing to race 4-player on a single screen? Assume that the best returning players would be seeded in different heats.

I really regret giving 3 races for qualifying kart. Even with the 16-player format, it just takes FOREVER. If we had only done 2, not only would we have had time for melee quals, we might not have run over! However, I did find out that CTN carried the broadcast all the way until the end.

TP2, you only missed the final round by 700 some points, you were fifth place. I'd say you did just fine, and that's excepting the fact that there is no acceptable excuse for not having played monkey target before.

More to come. Thanks to everybody for a fantastic tournament weekend.

I also see 4-person split screen as being the simplest and most effective method of cutting down our time. If you didn’t notice there was a little lag with 2 person split screen but having 4 person split-screen can’t be worse for your game then having John D. banging that drum in your in your ear.

Eli, Some people that watched the tournament said that the light text and background made it hard to read the screen. It you would increase the contrast between text and background I think that would be much appreciated.

Pickwick your stratagem is effective in giving them headaches, using substantially multifaceted terminology was a stroke of genius. I can make out some of the some of the Riemann Hypothesis and associated math but not much. I know someone that could explain a lot of the math to me; I’ll tell you if I learn anything.

New page.

"...And that's how I got my new shell. It looks just like the shell I threw out yesterday, and I found it in the same dumpster, but this one had a live racoon inside."-Zoidberg

If we did 4-player grand prix, it wouldn't be in LAN mode at all, just standalone 4-player like at home. The only time when the lag is bad is when you do 8-player on 2 cubes, and when you do that, you don't get the auto GP scoring, so scorekeeping would be pretty daunting.

Our feed is processed by CTN before it goes to Comcast, and we think that's where the color balance can get messed up. I've heard the same thing about the pre-race screens, but if you saw the raw feed on the TV outside the room, those screens looked great; very sharp and readable. Unfortunately, keeping them that way during the live broadcast is out of our control.

I will be reviewing the commentary for quality before I announce next month's commentators.

I'm not interested in cutting an event; if we can make single player kart go faster still, we'll be fine, and that's sounding pretty feasible unless there's an outcry against 4-per screen, seeded, 1-cup quals. However, I am considering having the melee events first, since they have consistently drawn more registrants than the kart events, and it seems pointless to make them wait. Also planned is an express check-in station for preregistrants, so they don't have to wait in line.

Black Shark, send me an email at axis@aadl.org and we can confirm your clan rosters.

Pickwick, don't go changin' in pursuit of pleasing this crowd. The inability to distinguish between your flawless application of the rich conventions of regency correspondence, and the technical language of men of science, should be sufficient cause for one to safely ignore the concomitant invective. Plus, mad props for your exacting employment of an <a href="http://www.google.com/search?q=prolixitous&quot; title="The word 'prolixitious', meaning 'having the tendency to speak or write at excessive length', only appears 26 times in the entire google index.">extremely rare word</a>.

Galen, I have reason to believe that when you are reading these pages, you are sitting very, very near a device you could use to determine the meanings of words you're not familiar with. Can you find this magical, glowing box? Try squinting.

Pay no attention to the clan logos in the thread... our mygtclanlogo tag works great, except that whenever you use it it shows the clan logo of the person who is reading the post, not the person who posted it. Oops. We have a new idea, and Eric is working on it. Stay tuned.

There certainly was a Scout Trooper, TB4179, at the DDR tournament on Sunday. He performed in uniform, although he did remove his helmet for some of the more challenging matches. He got second place, falling to the mighty, mighty Keefner.

His only comment on his loss was aptly, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".

About trophies. I got 285, but thats because when I was playing SSBM w/ Duck, I brought my memory card and I screwed up and overwrote my file with his. I had my data backed up on another file but that memory card is halfway across the country right now when I forgot it at a friends house over the summer. I pretty much had 288 trophies on that card...sucks dont it.

TWO roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth; 5

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same, 10

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back. 15

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Good Morrow!

I am not, by <em>ANY</em> means a professional in the fields of literature or poetry analysis, and it is now 2:00 in the morning, so I am currently delusional and, perhaps, psychotic; I will, however, in spite (or, perhaps, because) of the previous qualifiers, take a whack at decrypting the poem. (LATER)Rotational codes (ROT 1--26) all yield naught but gibberish; utilizing each of the final five lines as the passphrase for the Solitaire Cipher also resulted in a meaningless stream of characters, and the letter frequency analysis indicates that a simple letter substitution is unlikely. The Playfair Cipher: also nothing. Caesar Cipher: I haven't managed to muster up the brainpower to understand the instructions yet.
So far, none of the decryption techniques I have used have come up with anything meaningful. Does anyone know the Enigma decryption process? It's a little too complicated for me to figure out right now... Many apologies; it would appear that Mr. Frost did not hide his meaning in any of the codes I know.

As to Mr. pr0's question: Yes, I did utilize an implementation function regarding a "button-mashing" object, but a more specifically-defined object; I struck the L, R, Down, A, and Z buttons/directions repeatedly and at a stupendous frequency.

Good Time too Early to be Known Officially as Morning!

-----Pickwick the Second-----
PS: Sir Ducksalot, it grieveth me overmuch that thou hast still not answered my question via the forum; the answer you gave me in person was outside the new parameters I outlined, as the being in question cannot be proven to have come into existence within a region of space that America has traveled through at some point in its history.

I had to analize that poem last year. It all has to do with going your own way in life.

I just read some stuff on the Enigma and there is no way you could decrypt it without a program or an Enigma Machine. It has several problems as an encryption pocesses namely the fact that if someone knows the concept behind it, he/she can work it out in only a couple months.

I would vote for Susan Van Camp. No purple pants.

Regarding the Enigma Cipher, my dear sir, I must respectfully withold my agreement. Is it not so, that a computer must be provided with orders based on an algorithm in order to determine the solution to a cipher? And would it not, then, be possible to follow the algorithm without said device?

Good Day!

-----Pickwick the Second-----

Yes there is an algorithm, but the problem with doing it be hand is your head would implode. The algorithm encrypts like this for the first letter the letter A is set with E and vice versa but then for the second letter A is set to G and it changes with every letter but with a document with 200 characters. Plus they grouped them in 5 and used the letter X to break words. It took alot of work to decrypt.

Good Morrow!
I don't doubt that it would take an incredible quantity of work and a more substantial block of time, but, operating under the assumption that I will have no more homework in my high school and college careers, and that I will not require any sleep whatsoever, I believe that I could run the Enigma algorithm on the Frost poem a few dozen times before graduating. Not, of course, that it would greatly narrow down the number of possible combinations; I write this merely in the hope of holding the last post on this forum until dawn, at least...
Good Day!
---------Pickwick the Second---------

Yes but I wouldn't see the point since it is obviously not encoded in the enigma. But you could try reverse speak.

Unfortunately, your statement does not ring true. As a matter of fact, the only reason I have'nt been posting here is that the number of posts had reached 333, which is a very significant number in Perplex City, the Alternate Reality Game I mentioned.

And yes, the Elites make a sound that could reasonably be transcribed in English characters as "Wort-Wort-Wort." Not having an X-box, and, thus, not having Halo 2, it is beyond my powers to describe the vocal utterations located in the second game (though, as I understand it, many of the Covenant aliens have learned English in the meantime.)

I hope we don't have to write term papers for Chemistry or for Analysis...

<em>"If we had to write Term papers in Chem and Analysis there would be far fewer people in NHS and far more suicides."</em>
*Chuckles* How would I incorporate that quote into a signature?

I was out due to illness brought on by lack of sleep; my brother was also out, so I'll have to get the Chem notes tomorrow. Was there any homework, and is it painfully long, as was last week's bookwork?
By the way, I think you may have a fully valid point when you hypothesise that it may be beneficial, at times, to take time to sleep rather than complete one's homework; coffee aids tremendously in mental recall, but caffeine is <em>not</em>, as I have discovered, a permanent substitute for sleep. Either that, or the coffee:sleep ratio increases geometrically over time; this bears investigation!

Fear not: I merely jest! On a different topic: Do you watch the Daily Show? If so, I highly recommend the Colbert Report (the 't' on the end of each is silent), which comes on immediately after Jon Stewart's show each weeknight. Steven Colbert was the Daily Show correspondent provocative of the most hilarity, in my opinion, and he began his own show, which premiered last night.
Good Luck!
-----Pickwick the Second-----
PS: It seems as though I'm going to be deprived of sleep again, though it is <em>entirely</em> by my own fault this time: Rather than working on my notecards for AP History, I've been alternately working on crafting duct-tape objects for a Robotics Club fundraiser and posting on the Axis blog. Procrastination may not be the way to go next time... Regardless, the less sleep I get, the better everybody else's chance to beat me on Friday and Saturday, so you should all be cheering, except for the fact that most of you are probably asleep, and nobody is checking the blog at present.
Ho hum. Well, for now, good day, and
Good Luck!
PPS: Eli, I've been meaning to ask you this for some time; in the unlikely event that you aren't too busy organising the next event, would you mind identifying the top posters by total number and by total wordcount? There could be awards for best grammar and vocabulary, and a 5,000-point bonus for the winners of each category! Not that I'm biased in any way.....
PPPS: As of 5:45 AM, I have completed my 30 notecards for the History Term Paper and am actively considering sleep as an optional course of action. Good Day!

I wonder... in a given function if you have a polynomial function that is a quotient with the degree of the numerator much greater then the degree of the demoninator, where are the asymtotes? Without useing a graphing calculator?

ex
(x^4 + a whole bunch of terms, you decided) / (x^2 plus blah)

I was told that you divide the degree on the numerator of the fraction by the degree of demoninator, but then you get x^2 which would be a quadratic function... you can't have that as an asymptote.

sorry I am just bored...
wait pickwick you are in robotics!!!

李 治 學 leaving

Auf Wiedersehen-

Good Morrow!
While the asymptotes of the function described may not be determined without further information, the process by which you can calculate them manifests itself in a checklist of sorts:
IF the highest degree in the numerator is:

Lower than that of the denominator, then there is a horizontal asymptote at y=0, because the denominator will then grow much more quickly than will the numerator.

Equal to that of the denominator, then the horizontal asymptote is equal to the ratio of leading coefficients; thus, ((42x^876) + 7)/((6x^876) + 8x -9 yields a horizontal asymptote of 42/7, or y=6.

Higher than that of the denominator, then there is no horizontal asymptote. Instead, there will be a 'slant' asymptote, which may be described by a linear function. (If you've ever worked with parabolas, you've seen slant asymptotes before.) To find it, you need to synthetically divide the function out into a simplified form; this requires the denominator to have a degree of 1, so you may have to use factoring techniques and/or the quadratic formula; when you finish, your result should be separated into roots of an ilk with (x-4) and (x+7). An example of this phenomenon might run thus: ((2x^3)+(2x^2)-8x+8)/((x^2)+2x-8) . You may notice that 2 is a common factor on the top, which may be written as 2(x^2-4)(x-1); this splits into 2(x-4)(x+4)(x-1). The polynomial in the denominator divides into (x+4)(x-2). As you may have noticed, there is a common factor of x+4 on top and bottom; take note of this, as it implies the presence of a 'hole' rather than a vertical asymptote in the graph when x= -4.
NOW you may cancel the two, which leaves you with 2(x-1)(x-4) {{or, more conveniently for the present design, (2x^2-10x+8)}} over x-2, where x-2 is in the form x-a, where 'a' is the value you need in order to synthetically divide. I don't know if you've done synthetic division yet, so I shall explain it briefly. First, you write the value of 'a,' remembering that it is negative as it appears in the root form. In a row with the 'a' value, which is 2, write the coefficients of each term in the numerator in order as they appear, or, as with x^1 in the case described, do <em>not</em> appear; put a '0' in its place. Synthetic division is easy and fast; all that remains is to carry down the first value, add the product of 'a' and the value to the next coefficient, carry down, and so forth.

2 2 (-10) 8
4 -12
=2 =(-6) =(-4)

The library blog is attempting to render this unintelligible by removing the spaces I had added for clarity, so I shall put it into words as well. Carry down the two; add 2*2 to the (-10,) which yields (-6); add (-12) to the The terms at the bottom are the coefficients of your new function, which is 2x-6 + (-4)/(x-2), where (x-2) is the divisor. The function that describes the slope of the slant asymptote is f(x)=2x-6; graph it as you would a line, albeit with dashed marks.

Vertical asymptotes are rather easier and faster to calculate than slant; simply set the denominator equal to zero and solve. If there are factors that may be canceled, do so before solving. In this case, x=2 is the asymptote.
With the vertical, horizontal, and slant asymptotes drawn in, you shouldn't have to graph many points before being able to sketch the graph with reasonable accuracy. Finding the x-and-y-intercepts is also recommended, though.
I'm not especially good at math, so I may have made some errors; it's probably safe to assume that if something in your calculations doesn't quite match the work I have here, the mistake is on my end. One mistake I see already was to multiply the numerator by the two; it should, I believe, be disregarded. Oops.

Yes, I am in the Pioneer High School Robotics Club; may I assume, by your reaction, that you are as well? If so, then I have a suspicion as to your identity... Are you, indeed, a Samurai, are you a member of the distinguished opposition party--the Rat Pack--or are you merely interested in said subject?

No, I am not in robotics, I am interested and many of my friends are in it but I personally am not. Many of my friends are in robotics and are taking analysis. so if you do not know what i look like, then I could easily be mistaken as one of my friends...

oh yes and on the matter of pensar tortuga; i used that name on an older blog. I think it was maybe page 6 or 7 of the eli goes to pax.
Basically I posed as some spanish kid who just copied pages of text and used a spanish translator, then posted the darn thing... yeah...

Good Morrow!
The Robotics Club at Pioneer High School meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays in room E-107 during lunch. All are welcome to attend these business meetings, but in order to attend many of the after-school workshops you will need to sign and turn in a safety contract, a form which may be obtained at a lunch meeting next week if you are interested. At 3:30 on Tuesday, there will be a meeting to work on a fundraiser wherein the members of the club are to craft objects such as capes, top hats, backpacks, wallets, and other miscellaneous items from duct tape for sale at Pioneer and elsewhere. The possibility of uct tape clothing is under discussion by our resident experts on duct tape and sewing; sizing and comfort are two major concerns. It promises to be quite entertaining, and you are welcome to attend should you choose.

As for Pensar Tortuga, I had not yet read the 'PAX' comments under that name as of your earlier mention on this forum, but I have since. Many thanks for the clarification.
Good Luck!

Good Morrow!
I don't have time to find it, but I seem to remember that Eli once mentioned the possibility of leaving this forum open for eternity. That may, of course, have been a different forum...
Good Luck to all!!

I'm confused, whose Doomblaze Duplicate? Did someone just make him up because I somehow registered twice for the tournament yesterday, or does someone just admire my mad skillz?
