Patron Comment: Re-format the book-due email so that each book is on a separate numbered line. Otherwise I sometimes miss a book that should be returned. Also, the library card number could be shortened. Its very hard to type in correctly!

Patron Comment: I would like to see some kind of pop-up blocker on the unfiltered Internet. I had 5 AOL ads pop up at once, and when I closed all of them it logged me off the net.

Patron Comment: The card catalog system we have to use is just infuriating. When is it going to be replaced with something decent?

Patron Comment: RE: Banned Books Week Lecture By Censorship Expert Pat Scales Dear Library Staff, I was wondering if your speaker might want to comment on the censorship shown to the students, and the families, in this article. If the work "Liberal" were to be subsituted with "book banners", or just taken out (since I have many "Liberal" friends and family who are just as horrified by these actions as "Conservatives", I feel this would be more correct) the article would be about book banning and cencorship of free speech. I wish I could attend your meeting this afternoon; the books on the list that I've read have been very thought provoking. Two of them I read because they were high school reading assignments (from mine or my brother's Catholic High Schools). Thank you for addressing the issue of book banning

AADL Reply: Thank you for your suggestion comments regarding the Pat Scales lecture presented on Saturday, September 27. Unfortunately, I did not receive your suggestion before Pat Scales spoke. I did attend the program and it was very interesting and informative. I am sorry that you were not able to attend. Please continue to offer your questions, suggestions and comments to the Ann Arbor District Library.

Patron Comment: I was recently looking through the binders that have articles from the A2 News. Specifically, I was interested in reading articles about housing and homelessness from the last couple months. The binders are only updated through July. I realize that the newer articles may be available on-line or in the stacks. However, if possible I would be very interested in helping update the binders. There is something more appealing to reading the articles in sequence. I prefer to read paper over a screen anyday. If I could volunteer to update the housing/homelessness binders ove a week I would love it. Thanks for your time. Peace.

AADL Reply: Thank you for your suggestion and offer of assistance with the newspaper clipping file at the Ann Arbor District Library. The binders you were using were updated through July and you were wondering why they weren't current. The binders are usually a month behind the paper to allow for clipping or copying and physically placing articles in the binders. We had a bit of a slow down over the summer that might have affected the binders you were seeking. We will not be clipping from the newspapers and adding to the binders after December of this year. While I realize that you prefer reading the articles in sequence in the binder format, the process for clipping is very inefficient. We are developing instead an index in database form that will lead you to the microfilm. The index will be available online and can serve many people at one time. We will retain the collection of clippings in binder format as part of our local history collection and it will be updated through December 2003.
