Patron Comment: Naxos has several Shakespeare plays read on CD with good cast. It would be nice to get them here.

AADL Reply: Thank you for your suggestion that we increase our collection of Books on CD of Naxos Shakespeare plays at the Ann Arbor District Library. We would appreciate any specific titles that you could suggest. Please feel free to submit a material request at www.aadl.org or fill out an "I Have a Suggestion!" card.

Patron Comment: How about hanging "information" sign over the first floor information desk?

AADL Reply: Thank you for submitting a Library Customer Service Card suggesting that we hang an "information" sign over the first floor Fiction/Media desk. We will not be able to implement this idea, but we are planning on renovating the first floor of the Downtown Library over the next few years. We will be considering placement of the Circulation and Information desks for these renovations.

Patron Comment: My kids have always enjoyed the little critter, Dr. Seuss and other stories on the computer. Could you put these back on as options for younger kids who aren't ready for games yet? Thanks!

AADL Reply: Thank you for your suggestion that we re-install more stories on the children's computers at the Ann Arbor District Library. Our previous story software is not compatible with our current system. However, we are in the process of purchasing stories and plan on installing them on our children's computers within the next several months. I apologize for not having this service available to you and your children in the interim.

Patron Comment: Your catalog just gets WORSE and WORSE! I can't stand the blank screen that greets me when I'm waiting for search results. The old system was much faster and easier to get to what you want. I feel my tax dollars are being squandered. How can you have $ to buy virgin land for new libraries and yet have such a balky, idiotic catalog?

Regarding: TV

Patron Comment: I am completely opposed to a television screen in the lobby of our library. Please remove it! I don't understand how logic could lead to this purchase and use of precious resources.

AADL Reply: Thank you for filling out a Library Customer Service Card regarding the television we recently installed in the Library lobby. I am sorry that the presence of the television in the Lobby area of the Library is a cause of concern for you. We consider television an access point for information and have at least two others in public areas at Main. Due to events over the past two years, nationally and internationally, we felt that it was appropriate to add a television in a high traffic area. We do intend to leave it on when the Library is open. The placement of the television was carefully considered and our intention was to place it in an easily viewable, yet discreet, location. Those standing in line can do so without watching it, and we are using the closed caption feature so that volume will not be an issue. Thank you for sharing your concerns. If you have further questions, please don't hesitate to call me at 327-4263.

Patron Comment: Television obtrusive in library! Totally Unnecessary! You say you need it for the news?? Surely there is a computer/web site available.

Patron Comment: Why is the television here? When Kroger store initiated TV's while waiting in line I said it was OBTRUSIVE and INNAPPROPRIATE. I said I would not shop there if they continued to have them. Same here - worse! Use the computer if you need weather updates. We have enough televisions!
