Volume 1, Number 3 - SPRING/SUMMER 2010 WLBPD @ AADL NEWS Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled @ AADL (734) 327 - 4224 WLBPD@AADL.ORG VISIONS 2010 VENDOR FAIR WHAT'S NEW IN TECHNOLOGY & SERVICES FOR THE BLIND AND VISUALLY IMPAIRED WEDNESDAY, MAY 12 10 AM - 4 PM Washtenaw Library for the Blind and Physically Disabled @ AADL will present the vendor fair, VISIONS 2010: What's New In Technology and Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired on Wed., May 12, from 10 AM - 4 PM at Washtenaw Community College, Morris Lawrence Building, 4800 E. Huron River Drive, Ann Arbor. This event, cosponsored by the Michigan Commission for the Blind (MCB) and Washtenaw Community College, will feature a variety of exhibitors who will demonstrate and discuss the latest products and services for the blind and visually impaired. Admission is free and ample free parking is available. Visions 2010 Highlights: - Hands-on demonstrations and conversations with vendors. Magnifiers, support services for the blind, electronic readers, Braille devices, library services, CCTVs, leader dogs, and transportation services are just a few of the services and products that will be on display. - A variety of sandwiches, snacks and beverages will be available on-site, sold by the MCB Business Enterprise Program. - Sighted volunteers will be available to assist throughout the day. - Special group demonstrations will be offered every hour in the program room. Doors will open at 10 AM. At 10:30 AM, there will be Opening Remarks by Ann Arbor District Library Director Josie Parker, Michigan Commission for the Blind, and Services of WLBPD @ AADL. That's over 3,000 youth, teen, and adult titles for you to choose from! Since these books will be coming from the AADL's collection (and not the WLBPD collection), you are required to have an AADL Library card account. As a user of the WLBPD @ AADL, you are eligible for an AADL card at no charge as long as you remain a resident of Washtenaw County. AADL card applications are being mailed to all active WLBPD @ AADL patrons. If you do not currently have a Library card, and would like to receive Large Print books by mail, please fill out and return the AADL card application when you receive it. A letter, mailed with your AADL card application, will contain more details on this new service. Please call if you have questions.
