In the small town of Wheresville there lived a man named Henry Peterson. Henry was a very kind and generous man. Everyone loved Henry for his good deeds, except for one person: Angelina Clark. Angelina was always envious of Henry. She envied that he had friends and attention, unlike her. She was such a nasty mean person, that her family no longer keep in contact with her and she lives all alone with two obese black cats. One day while sitting alone in her house full of hatred, Angelina complained “Ugh, I hate that man! He thinks he is so much better than everyone else! He tries to convince everyone that he’s the nicest man alive, but I don’t buy it! One day I’ll show everyone that he’s not all that nice! I’ll give him what he deserves!” She complained to her cats. “No one loves me.” She frowned. “You love me don’t you Robert?” she asked her cat. “Ew, of course I don’t love you, you’re disgusting! You look like you just went through a tornado!” hissed Robert. “Oh, shut up Robert! You don’t know anything! You’re just a stupid brainless animal!” she hissed back. “Well if I’m so brainless how come I’m talking, you dumb blob!” “Hey shut it or I will turn you in to the SIAAB!” Robert said with a mean look. Things were quiet. Angelina sat on her dusty old couch thinking. Then she got an idea. “I know what I’ll do! Yes, I know exactly how to make him suffer! I am going to frame him for robbery! That is a genius plan, why have I never thought of this before?” Angelina cheered. As evil Angelina celebrated her brilliant plan, Henry was out helping his friends paint their house. “Wow! This is some hard work.” “Yes it is!” Tom said, wide smile in tow. As Henry started up a conversation with Tom, Angelina snuck into Tom’s house and stole his wife’s diamond necklace, leaving size nine paint boot prints just like Henry’s, clearing all possible tracks that could lead to her. Then, she snuck into Henry’s house and placed it inside of his coat pocket, also clearing all tracks that lead to her. Henry left the house quickly after he finished helping his friend out. Later that night, Tom’s wife had discovered her necklace was gone. “Tom! Come quick! My necklace, it’s gone!” screamed Nancy, Tom’s wife. “What!? How is this possible, the only people here were you, me, and Henry.” Tom said. “You don’t think Henry could have done this do you?” Nancy nervously asked. “Now Nancy, let’s not jump to conclusions. We do not quit know who did this yet. We don’t really have any proof.” Tom said. “I don’t know Tom. Look at the prints on the floor, the same color we painted the house with, and the same boot size and print as Henry. “Hm, maybe your right. Maybe we should call Henry just in case.” Tom replied. Tom phoned Henry. “Hey Henry! Did you know that right after you let my wife’s necklace was stolen?” “Why no, I didn’t that’s terrible! Do you have any idea who might have done this?” Henry answered. “Not really. Henry do you mind if me and Nancy come over, you know to talk and see if we can get any closer to a conclusion.” “Sure, of course you can come over! But I definitely think you should call the police.” “We will Henry, we will.” They hung up and Tom and Nancy came over. At Henry’s house, Tom, Nancy, and Henry all sat down to drink coffee and started talking. “You know Henry, something really odd about this is that the person who took the necklace left foot prints in the same color of the paint we painted the house with, and they had the same shoes and shoe size as you.” Suspiciously said Tom. “That is odd…Wait you’re not saying you think it was me who took the necklace, are you?” “No no, not at all.” Said Tom. “Say Tom it’s a bit chilly in here, do you mind if I borrow a coat?” Interrupted Nancy. “Sure here you go.” Tom passed her a coat from the coat hanger and the necklace fell out of the pocket. It laid on the wooden floor, with the giant crystal blue diamond glistening in the dim light. Everyone gasped in shock. “How could you! I thought you were my friend! Who knew you were capable of such a terrible thing!” Tom angrily yelled at Henry. “Tom you have to believe me! I do not even know how that got there! I’m just as surprised as you are!” “I’m sure that’s true! We are calling the police!” Nancy yelled. The police quickly arrived to investigate; Henry was arrested for robbery and went to court after three days. The judge found Henry guilty due to the evidence that supported his crime. Henry was then sent to jail for 15 years, since the necklace was very valuable, about 1,000 dollars. After that everyone knew what had happened and everyone hated Henry. “I finally did it! I got what I wanted! He is not so innocent to everyone anymore, now is he?” Angelina celebrated. “Now is that really what you want? For innocent Tom to be punished for something he never did? You know, you should be in jail not him, you’re the guilty one.” Said Angelina’s cat, Robert. “Shut up! No one was talking to you! Besides it’s not like you can go to the police or anything….Hey how come the other cat’s don’t talk? yelled Angelina. “That’s irrelevant at the moment! Besides maybe I can just call the police myself and turn you in!” replied the cat. “If you even think about doing that I will have your head on a stick!” Angelina threatened Robert. “Oh please do! It’s better than having to listen to your boring sob stories everyday! Mark my words you will pay!” “You know what I’m just going to sleep! “Angelina yelled to Robert. That night Angelina couldn’t stop having nightmares about Henry. Angelina got to the point where she could not handle her guilt and had to confess. Later that week, Angelina went to the police and told them the truth. Tom was released from jail and Angelina took his place. p.1 The Consequences of Jealousy 6-8
