Locked Car 
Have you ever been locked out of your minivan? If you do not 
know what it feels like then you are about to know. 
My dad and his brother Shaun went on a road trip in California. 
My dad said, “California is dusty and full of crops.” They stopped at a 
gas station and my grandpa locked the car with the keys inside. My 
grandma was a little bit mad and tired because she wanted to keep 
driving but they could not. 
My dad was twelve and my uncle Shaun was fourteen. They both 
had blond hair that is (going to) turn/turning brown. The guys that 
worked at the gas station were nice so they helped my grandpa. A few 
hours later they got the keys out of the car. 
My dad and Shaun were still in the store and they saw the gas 
station guys talking. They said this, “how did that happen when we got 
the keys out of the car and that dude said thanks.' Then he locked the 
car and put the keys back in the car and shut the door again” he laughed. 
The gas station guys thought it was hilarious that my grandpa locked the 
keys in the car a second time! My dad and Shaun ran outside to ask if it 
was true, and my grandpa said under his breath, "Oh shut up.” A few 
hours later they got the keys out of the car again. 
“How did our dad do this?” Said my dad. 
“I can't believe what happened,” Said Shaun 
“I can't wait to tell my friends,” My dad said. 
“You can't". Grandpa said. 
“Why?” They asked. 
“Go to sleep,” he said. 
Then they rode into the sunset (or the rest stop they booked a few 
hours ago Jand thought about what happened. 
My dad says this is just one of many silly things my grandpa did 
on their vacations, but this one was especially funny. That is my funny 
family story. I hope you liked it.
