That Jaguar 1 Cooper, the orangutan, was walking in the wet, rainy, and moist forest of Indochina. The rainforest he lived in had tropical palm trees and bamboo trees. The trees were very tall with lots of leaves on the trees. Since there were a lot of leaves on the trees, it made it very shady and damp. In the forest there was a lot of dripping water. It sounded very loud. While Cooper was walking he found a little, tiny mango. So he picked it up and took a bite of it. “Mmmm, delicious,” he thought. The fruit tasted sweet and really juicy. “Wow, this is the best thing I’ve ever tasted in this tropical forest,” he noted. The next day, Cooper started to collect more mangos. He continued to eat them. Later on he got a whole bunch of mangos. He then put them in his home with his family. Later that day Cooper went outside the big cave to frolic and play and have some fresh air. When he came back, all his fruit were gone! “Who took them? Was it Jaguar? If so I want him to have them!” he thought to himself. He wasn’t very brave and did not want to confront Jaguar who was bigger and fiercer than he was. He gloomily walked away from the now useless hole he had dug for mango storage. He hung his head down low as he aimlessly wandered from his home. While walking, he dreamed of the sweet, juicy, and delicious mangos, but suddenly he started smelling them, smelling the mangos! That Jaguar 2 Although he thought before that he would let Jaguar have them, he had a change of heart. Cooper marched right up to that Jaguar’s home to teach him a lesson he would never forget. While marching throughout the rainforest he smelled the abundance of sweet, sour, tangy, tropical fruit. He was getting closer to Jaguar’s lair. As he got closer, he saw a figure in the dark lair eating the mangos, which he, Cooper, had collected. Cooper became very angry. So, he walked up to Jaguar and taught him that lesson. He gave him a big, loud growl and Jaguar got scared and ran away! Cooper thought, “That felt good.” He was proud of himself. He took his mangos back to his home. He was so hungry that his stomach was making noises. He ate and ate a lot. The number of mangos, however, was still great because he had collected so many. After he put them back in his cave with his family, he decided to take a little nap. When he woke up, he heard somebody eating. He stood up and went to find out what was happening. He found his family: his mom, his big sister, his little sister, and his dad eating his food. He became even angrier than he was at Jaguar. “Bailey!” he yelled. “Why are you eating my mangos? And why are mom and dad and Abby doing that too?” he demanded. Carly replied, “Sorry, Cooper, but everyone was hungry and we had to eat!” Cooper felt sorry for them and forgave his family. He scolded them again and reminded them to never eat from his food again. And so they didn’t.
