The King and the lady One day a beautiful lady did chores for the King and helped him around the house all week, so the King said “you may have any 3 things” the lady was so happy, when she got home she asked her kids what she should get from the King. The next day she walked to the king and said “I have decided for endless food, a beautiful pearl necklace and the power to clean a house in only two minutes.” “Ok I will give you these things but I have one question for you why do you need the power to clean a house in two minutes when you have your hands?” the King said. “It takes too long, and I do not want to,” she said. “Alright then,” the King said. When she got home she tried out her new powers. Her house was instantly clean and she had food on the table for her and her family, and a beautiful necklace on. When she woke up in the morning everyone in the town had heard about her new powers. They all wanted food and clean houses from her. There was 100s of people lined up outside of her door waiting for their turn to have her come to their houses and clean and put food on their tables. She felt like she didn’t want to be mean and say no to anyone, so she used her powers every day, all day. Every morning that she woke, there was a new line. One night when she was eating with her family she was talking to her family about her powers and what they thought she should do with them. She did not want to turn anyone away because it was a hassle to go to everyone’s houses, clean them and give them food. The family thought that it was a good idea to ask the King to take the powers away. So, she went straight to the King and asked for her powers to be removed. The King said, “Those were the powers you asked for, and those are the powers you will keep”. “But I don’t want these powers anymore, they are doing no good for me,” she said. She begged and begged for him to take the powers back, but every day it was the same answer. Finally, one day when she asked the King agreed to take the powers but he said, “Since you do not want the gift I gave you, you may never ask for anything from me again.” As she walked home she was so sad because she knew that she could never ask the king for anything ever again. “Maybe I could've asked for 2 more reasonable gifts” she said to herself.
