Lansing, Mioh., March 27.- Yesterday the bilis amending tbe charters of the cities of Marquette, Ishpeming, aud Uessemer with reference to the mode of choosing the various city official were passed and snt to the governor for approvnl. ïhe house passed the bill appropriating 8175,750 for tha soldiers home for the next two years. LANSING, Mich., March 28.- The Doran bill, fixiug the amount of speciflc taxes to be paid by the mining companies during the next two years, was killed in the senate yesterday, and in its place was introduced a substituto bill requiring that mining and smelting companies shall come under the general taxation laws. Lansino, Mich., March 31.- Oue of the most important measures of the session was favorably reported in the senate yesterday, and will be pushed through this week. ïhrough an expensive mistake tbe stringent insurance laws of the state exempts from all supervisión or control the fraternal mutual insurance societies.
