Distinguished Banker Dead
New York, April 20.- John Thompson, founder of Thompsou's Bank Note Reporter, and also of the First National and the Chase National banks of this city, died at his home here yesterday. Mr. Thompson was the first one tq oouceive the idea of the national banking system as it was later put into operation. He firet planned it in 1861.
