A Canadian describes a plan by which ie gives hia calves new milk and yet manages to have a good supply of battei rom his milfr. The idea is simple enough and well worth consideraron. Che plan adopted is as follows. At milking time two large vessels are pu outside the barn door, one marked ' 'dairy" and the other "calves." One-half of the milk given by each cow-viz. , that drawn irst - is put into the vessel markec 'calves," and the other half - viz., thai ast drawn - is put into the vessel markec 'dairy." This latter half is found on eing tested to contain frorn two-thirda three-fourths of the cream. The alves have the advantage of being fed with milk warm from the cow; at the same time they are reared at a moderate ost, as their allowance of milk does not ontain much cream.
