Grass and grain look well. Farmers are now plowing for corn. Gussie Paul is seriously ill with lung fever. Present prospects for fruit of all kinds are good. No frost in this neighborhood for some time past. Clint Allmendinger planted ten acres of corn Monday. Henry DePue shows a sample of fall wheat from bis farm thirty inches high. Frank Tichnor had a raising Saturday afternoon, near the stone school house. There is yet some oats to be sown. Some of the first pieces put in are up and looking well. John Fiegel had a barn raising last Friday afternoon, which was well attended, and a success in every way. Country roads are in better order now than a few weeks back, but there is room for further improvement. Work on the onion marsh is in progress. Wages for man and team without board, for plowing. etc, are from $2.50 to #3.00 per day of 10 hours.
