The utility of the breeds of poultry can be divided np into three classes: 1. For egg farming - Leghorns, Minorcas, Andalusians. Spanisli, etc. 2. For table birda (roasted) - Brahmas, Cochina, Games, etc. For broilers, crosses of lighber breeds on the above. 3. For eral purposes - Plyinouth Rocks, Wyandottes, Houdans, Langshans, etc. Now, for profit, saya The Farm Journal, a man can secure better returns by selecting according to the class in which he is interested. For instance, an egg farm would be a very slow concern run i with bird3 from class No. 2. Likewise a ! meat supply could not be secured by j class No. 1. And where both are intend; ed and ouly a limited supply of each is expected class No. 3 will all the bill. One reason for a great inany failures is that they do not select their varieĆ¼es judiciously. This year we have secured plump birds for broilers from the Wyandottes in their purity, but still feel satdsiied that the equal of that Hoodn-Cochin cross we tried last cannot be foand.
