Chicago, May 13.--The trial of the libel suit of John Culver against The Herald for $25,000 damages for the publication of an article reflecting on his integrity as a Cronin juror was begun before Judge Anthony yesterday. After a jury had been obtained the remainder of the day was spent in listening to the opening speeches. Culver stood out against the other eleven Cronin jurors and saved the necks of the alleged murderers of the doctor.
