Frederick Temple, bishop of London, having received a letter vrarning hini that au attempt would be made on Suaday laiït to assassinate him during the course of the Bervices, a number of detectives were placed on duty iu aad around St. Paul's eathedial on that day. The services were concluded without anything unusual taviug occurred. Nevertheleas, H is believed that the threat was made in earnest, and that it failed in execution only by reason of the extraordiuary vigilauca of the pólice authoritius.
