Each day, we'll welcome Kids from Noon until 3 PM and Teens from 3 to 6 PM. Will there be Brawl, you ask? OF COURSE there will be Brawl. Winner stays. How long can you stay in command? ohhh... mariokart came out really, wow I had no idea. I heard absolutly no hype,whatsoever for this game. Now ima haf 2 wait for places to restock it ~sigh~

Actually, having played both on Nintendo WFC and local multiplayer with 4 people on one screen, it seems that local multiplayer has more of the "rubber band" effect than WFC.

Nintendo WFC is unforgiving, and if someone gets a 15 second lead you're probably never going to catch them. However, locally it seems that the game forces players to stay at an even pace. I played people today at work that had never played Mario Kart before, they selected automatic drifting, and even though I used every mini-turbo and trick jump that I could find I never really broke away from them as I typically do when playing online.

Might be something to consider if Mario Kart Wii is going to be incorporated into tournament play this year.

i have 2 tell u right now that mario kart is the most disappointing game ive ever played. the courses are fine but what did they do to the drifting? they ruined it and its one of the professional mario kart essentials

also the steering just plain sucks. this is coming from someone who can accept almost anything in a video game (heh) that thing that allows u to look behind your kart distorts your concentration on the driving it drives me crazy. other than that, theres nothing severely wrong with this new mario kart. in fact i almost like the other features that come with the game

then theres the debate of whether mkdd or mkw should be the game that we play at the tournis as omokusaki said. just sharing my opinion but im gonna stick with mkdd.

mario kart tourni on the 25th. is is wii or double dash thats what i want to really know.

first off the drifting isn't worse it's just that the timing changes depending on the level of drift your kart/bike has. (low = drift sooner high= drift later)

2nd there is a stat called handling and that is what controls the steering ability of the karts

3rd teh rear-view mirror was in the n64 version (or so i believe) and it is actually an incedible usefull feature. It,s best use is when people are behind you and you want to shoot a shell backwards its better to kow were you are aiming. Basically only use it on straightaways when you are in first.

I'd say that we should play mariokart wii over mkdd simply because it is more balanced

the wii version has a very low chance for the noob in last or even in 3rd or 4th place to catch up to the guy is 1st.

Even though I'm way too old to participate in the GT season, I'd have to say that Mario Kart Wii should be the game to run with.

The only thing that I found was odd was how much of a "rubber band" effect there was when playing local multiplayer, and since in a GT season this game would have to be played online as there is no network play, it shouldn't be an issue. Other than that, I'm really happy with the game, especially with the improved online mode when compared to what Nintendo gave us in Brawl.

Additionally, in Mario Kart Wii everyone can pick their preferred driver and not get stuck with a random combo that puts them at a serious disadvantage. That alone should be enough to justify including MK Wii in the next GT season as opposed to Double Dash.

Anyway, perhaps the best way to solve this would be to have a pre-season Mario Kart tournament that featured Mario Kart Wii. Maybe it would be too cost prohibitive to do so though and if the copies are purchased, it would simply be included in the upcoming season to justify the cost to the library. If we wanted to try this though, I could get my hands on three copies, assuming that you already have the Wii consoles setup.

Another point to consider that I briefly mentioned above is MK Wii's lack of network play. Is the library's firewall setup to allow the Wiis to connect to Nintendo WFC? If not, and that setting can't be changed do to security policies (something that I've run into on the Wii where I currently work) Mario Kart Wii may not even be a viable option.

Finally, limabeans and swordmaster. I entered you two in as Mario Kart Wii friends a few days back and still haven't gotten confirmation. Tutu seems to have added me fine with the info I provided, so perhaps you may have mistyped my friend code in your Wii.

Also in pools being third or fourth isn't as big of a disadvantege because of the character special items (i.e. only toad and toadtte getting golden shrooms, and the troopa's getting triple shells)

Also we reallyt should let college people come as it it would make stuff so much more interesting

anyway, the debate over the karts is quite something to read but how is it even possible to get a * on every 150cc cup? this game, in my opinion is persistantly annoying, but im only looking at it one way

for example, there is a wider variety of stages, characters, and interaction with others. also all the items in the game are not directed toward a specific character. although its diffecult to control at most times the wii wheel is a fun new experience for the wii. there also arent any really bad glitches (as far as i know)

on the other hand there were some problems with this game that made it diffecult in my experience to play smoothly. when you fall off once your almost always in 11th or 12th place. thats annoying. when you get hit by a master, green, or red shell when in 1st place it knocks you back a few places. also annoying.

im just trying to play devils advocate with my other comment

but if they don't come I'll always win and i'll be uber bored

and angus i 2 stard every 150 cc, but it mostly depends on how lucky you are and how god you are turbo-boosting.

Me= hit by 4 blue shells on the final lap of snes ghost valley and i still got 1st with a 2.5 second lead due to my amazing powersliding skills

swordmaster-- there really would be no point in giving u notra's code for the simple fact that he basically only plays GTA4 and gears. ( and there isn't really a way 4 me to find it considering hat once 2 ppl r registered on brawl their codes are no longer visible.)
Also... Brawl doesn't have online play. And im not usually on because im busy attempting to beat Radiant dawn... again. But once im done with that i might start playing again, maybe.

Angus-- low drift isn't neaerly as good as high for the simle fact that with low you lose the advantage of hugging the curve, unles you start drifting fairly early, but that of course slows u down some and makes it easier for karts to ram you into the turf (assuming the couse has turf, of course). Just use high and remind yourself to wait a for a moment before you start to drift and you'll see the mondo improvement.

i admit that im starting to lose focus on what we're talking about so i have no idea what im saying now; too busy toying with getting brawl trophies =0

lol all you want but i just discovered that you can play five different ways: wii wheel, classic controller, wii remote, wii remote w/ nunchuk, and the gamecube controller. this'll make things 7x easier.

im aiming to get all the "secrets (which didnt seem to be very secret)", and also all the stickers o_O X) $_$

Also do you wnat brawl stratagies or AADLGT brawl stratagies? as these are severly different. However the only bit of advice i can give relating to both is maining Peach. Peach is unofficially he best charecter in brawl because of her up-titlt, smash-b, and her uber l337 walk animation. (glide-tossing isn't half bad either). She also is a good charecter because she teaches u how to not make mistakes.

first thing is i have absolutely no idea what wavedashing or glide tossing is, and im not afraid to say it tell me what they mean or else ill turn my player name into mario

next thing, legendary magic, is that i wanna learn both stratagies (aadlgt and reg. brawl) it doesnt matter to me just tell me stuff

finally, i wanna know who u ppl play as and are most comfortable with.

4 me, i find that lucas, toon link, c falcon, marth, and ike are my strength characters

my second choices are kirby, diddy, metaknight, ice climbers, link, and to my own surprise, rob

peach is alright, but im still trying 2 figure out how 2 pwn other ppl whin i set them 2 a high damage gauge. also her second jump we could do without, because she just seems to spin around rather than jump

also sonic could hit opponents with more force because i find it hard to ko ppl with him as well

hey ive decided that i want to learn how to wavedash...is is illegal in the tournaments, or do they allow it?...i also learned about something called a pivot grab in brawl, which allows you to grab someone from directly behind you, or something along those lines. its kind of a replacement for wavedashing, but wavedashing's better. eric tells me that were going to most likely have brawl, dd for team kart, and wii kart for singles. that may change by the pre-season event (which i will be present for), but it sounds like one of the best ways of doing the tourneys this year. considering that ill be at the pre-season event i want to be a part of a major clan, just when its forming. the equivalent teams of asian invasion, US, bros. of maplewood, angry little girls, and super smash bros.......um yeah

so.....theres still gonna be a regulation throwdown as usual at the end of june right........i dont care if its brawl or melee i just need SOMETHING (as long as its brawl or melee :p), ive been deprived of these tourneys for too long ahhhhh

also angus if wavedashing is illegal then the whole clan us would have barely any points lol (my clan would have none T.T)...............also pivot grab isnt a replacement for wavedashing at all......and pivot grabbing was available in melee sooo not a replacement

dood legendary magic i looked it up and im beginning to understand it. now, theres something that they call the angle which is where you tip it half way down (please correct me if im wrong) and then you have to dodge down or whatever. i still have no idea of how to wavedash. but i have heard of people who do side wavedashes and what they call "super" wavedashes as well.
by the way lain, who do you enjoy playing as most? last i remember it was donkey kong but that was long ago.

yeah i was thinking just the same thing last night... luigi's traction sucks, so its easier to wavedash with him... idk why in every 3d game luigis traction is 3 times as bad as marios

did you know that when you get an electrode from a pokeball, when it turns red, you can pick it up and use it as a projectile?...its easier to do in brawl cuz its red longer before exploding o_O i think i found this at a strange site: ssbm.detstar.com they show this secret underground passage on yoshi circuit too

Also luigi's wavedash isn't easier because of his poor traction, its just longer, its easier because of how long it takes him to get off of the ground.

if not the what i remember was me playing sheik and peach (2 garbo characters mind u) against snake ( a completely broken character) and ur DK (I do accept DK as an acceptable character. I believe peach vs DK was a 1-stock, and i think i did sheik against snake I believe that fell between 1-2 stock. Then i remember getting raped by ur brother's rob ( an annoying charcter, second only to wario but still legit). Then i had 2 go bcause i had to catch the bus to get to digi-ops on tiime 4 teams. Does taht about sum it up?

lain thanx 4 giving me that url for advandced how 2 play tactics im gonna own now is there possibly any way to repay you other than bothering you? i understand how 2 wavedash now but i cant wavedash across a stage yet because i havent mastered the timing for it...its hard to do cuz you have to press r/l IMMEDIATELY after pressing jump otherwise your character either jumps or sheilds. im also having problems with the "analog" stick; im pressing it too much south or to the side...

other than that, edge hogging is a useful technique as well. i still need practicing wavedashing backwards onto the edge for speed.

also, when i was playing against doc, instead of edge hogging, he hit me with his cape, which, if you notice, reverses the direction of anything that will inflict damage on him. so when i was attempting to recover, i died..............lol

im just putting this out there, and i dont expect an answer from anyone, but.....what technique (that isn't wavedashing) did you find hardest to memorize?

btw next regulation tourney july.............12th?

anyway ggs (although i did see a snake...) i learned a lot from our matches. also i wouldm't main snake, mario, luigi, marth, zelda, c. f., or kirby if i were you. you should probably just stick with DK (but change the color... plz white DK is just so spammed). Also why did u play ness, we both know that you know that lag ends his up-b

and just a final word of advice, when z/s transform after they die the transformation doesn't take up all the invincibility frames that you get when you come back to life

Every1 shold kno by now that if a game has the word "wii" in it that it is a bad gimmick(not that there are good gimmicks, just that they are exceptionally bad) and that every game that starts with the word "mario" is a gimmick of a bad idea. Thusly mario Kart wii is a bad gimmick of a bad idea... way to give in to total n00bdom

and angus you completely wasted ur money buying a special edition of the game, its going to be the exact same game with an added bonus that costed about 5 dollers to make

also you'll never be able to beat swordmaster, just get rid of any false hope you may harbor... its amazing how much confidence learning how to wavedash instills among scrubs. i can only laugh

Your second is half correct, first off i am teh l337, 2nd off i have no problem with him getting better at smash, im just saying that wavedashing doesn't mean all that much unless u can actually use it in usefull ways, which comes from experience, which comes from playing good ppl, (and at this part i am being a little presumptious (for lack of a shorter/better/spelled correctly word)) but i somehow doubt that angus has been playing any1 that could be considered good...

moving on to the third... i don't read stuff on the internet unless u count this blog , but i don't relay stuff that any1 has said... that would be redundant, and redundancy annoys me. Everything i post i post from personal experience/annoyance. except for mayb that list of neutral stages , but those aren't really up to me to decide

comment 4... notoriety is only useful when the reputation comes from ppl whose opinions matter to the person attempting to achieve the state of notoriety... hmm... I'm fairly sure that I don't care about the opinions that you like 4?ppl have about me ...

and last and possibly least i said that ppl who expected mario kart to be a good game were tools, im fairly certain that i did not expect mario kart to be a good game, and if u have proof otherwise i would really like to see it

swordmaster i don't mind at all what trash tutu throws at me, but thanks for your concern (its also because i dont understand more than 51% of what youre saying)
