LAíísin'G, Mieh., June 5. - The house yesterday passed the senate bilí providing for uniform school text books throughout the state after June, 1893, and the senate passed the house bill providing for kindergarten methods in the public schools. The house passed a substitute for the senate congressional redistricting bill, making important changes. Boughner's anti-trust bill was killed in the senate, and the bill taxiDg express companies 5 per cent of their earnings on purely Michigan business met a like fate in the house. The senate passed the house bill appropriating $73,400 for the mining school at Houghton. LAKSING, Mich., June 6.- William Graves, a reporter for one of the papers which have published charges of bribery against Representatives Munthe and Doyle, was sumraoned before the investí gating committee yesterday. Graves re'used to answer the questions of the committee, and declined to give his reasons :or so doing. Last night, after a stormy session, the house dècided that the newsmper man should be punished for con;empt, and he was ordered under arrest. The senate passed the house bill which gives the general public the right to fish n any navigable waters where fish have aeen plantea at the expense of the state. Lansing, Mich., June 8. - The charges against Representatives Doyle and Munth were followed up Saturday by statements purporting to come from Mayor Solomon, of Au Sable, charging Senator Friedlander with accepti ng $300 to support the passage of a bill consolidating the towns of Au Sable and Oscoda. Mayor Solomon denies the story. LANSrKG, Mich., June 10. - The Detroit newspaper correspondent, "W. C. Graves, who ref used to answer the questions asked tlim by the committee appointed to investígate the charges of bribery against Kepreseutatives Munthe and Doyle, was arrested last night by order of the house for contempt, but finally practically diseharged. The house has passed the senate bill which repeals the special charter under which the Lake Shore and Michigan Southern railroad has operated for nearly forty years. The senate has passed the bill appropriating $56,000 -for the state prison at Jackson.
