DETROIT, June 8. - Last week the pólice notified the officials of the Northwestern league team that they would not be allowed to play ball on Sunday. The club started to play just the same Sunday afternoon and cleverly hoodwinked the pólice. A deputy sheriff was on the grounds, and when the pólice were seen coming he hurried to the field and calling the players around him, said they were all under arrest for distuibing the peace. When asked if he was going to stop the game, he told them to go on and play, which they did. The pólice saw the game from the stand, but could do nothing, as the men were the sheriff's prisoners.
