The brick work on the school house is finished and the roof on. SIrs. Jewell, a returned missionery hom North China, lectured at the M. E. church, Monday night. She gave very interesting account of the peopït' and work there. The Union meeting will be at the M. E. church, nest Sunday night. Some much-needed new walk has ■been built on the east side ol Main-st. Some four or five Sunday schools froni surrounding towns had picnics at Cavanaugh lake, Wednesday. The Good Templars will have a picic at the lake, nest Saturday. The Chelsea balnd will go to Detroit next week, to the encampment, and to Jackson on August llth with the Slaccabees. There are now but two vacant stores in town and no vacant dweljing houses. A large nurnber from hero wlll tako advantage of reduced faro, next wcek, to go to Detroit. Wlieat has moved some the past jreelí at 85 cents íor red and 87 for whito. Rye stands at 65 ets, old oats at 35 ets. and new at 25 ets; potatoes, 50 ets.; eggs, 15 ets.; butter, 14 ets. Considerable wool yas brought hero last Saturday and oecasionally a load sinee. The price is 20 to 25 ets. yet. The Baptist society had a Sunday school picnic at Xorth lake, Wednesday. The drouth continúes and serious damage has already resulted to growinj; Cropa. H. Ruthruff, county drain corn-missioner was here on Wednesday to act upon the proposed lowering of Clark's lake, iu Lyndon. Several from here are attending the institute for teachers at Dexter, this week. Miss Minnie Eobertson left for her home ia Battle Creek, on Wednesday. Uliree car loads of new wheat have already been taken in and shipped from here.
