$1,000 Reward

Our American chemists are renowned not only for their enterprise, but for their vigilance. They are prompt to expose frauds wherever they find them. Thus far, however they have not carned the reward of one thousand ($1,000) dollars offered by the proprietors of Swift's Specific (S.S.S.) for the discovery, by analysis, of a particle of mercury, iodide of potash or any poisonous substance, in their famous medicine. The reason the reward has not been picked up is because there are no mineral or poisonous substances in Swift's Specific (S.S.S.). It is a vegetable compound, which has been before the public for half a century, and its history is marked by a wonderful series of successes.
