[OFFICIAL.] CODNCIL CHAMBER, I Ann Arbor, MiCH.,Sept. 10, 1891. j The Common Council met in an adjourned session and was called to order by tke President. Koll called: A quorum present. Absent- Aid. Wines, Herz, Allmendinger, Fillmore, Ferguson and Renberg - 6. Th9 President announced that the first order of business would be motions and resolutions. President Cooley here called Aid. Hall to the chair. Aid. Hall-having assumed the chair, Aid. Mann offered the following resolution: Resolved That the City Boards and Council Committees do submit, at the next meeting of the Council, their respective estimates of the amounts of money necessary to be raised on the tax roll for the need of the city during the next fiscal year, to the end that the matter may be discussed, determined, and duly certified. Which resolution prevailed. By Alderman O'Hearn. Kesolved, Tbat the Anu Arbor Water Company be notified to place fire hydrants on Thirteenth street aiul Pontiac street, according to the report of the "Water Committee, made at the last meeting of the Council. Which resolution prevailed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas- Aid. Mann, Martin, O'Hearn, Taylor, Hall, Kitson and President Cooley. - 7. For plan "A." wood joists $1,900 00 li," steel ■ 2,20000 The respective bids for the iron bridge over the Huron river at Bridge !No. 3. are transmitted to the Council vvith a recommendation that the bid of The Smith Bridge Company, of Toledo, Ohio, at the sum of fifteen hundred and twenty-two dollars ($1,522) for steel joists be accepted. Cooley: Whereas, The bids for the construction of the proposed iron and steel bridge at Bridge No. 3, over the Hurou river, haviug been received and publicly opened by the Board of Public Works and certified to the Couneil with a recommendation that the bid of The Smith Bridge Company be accepted, and having duly considéred the same; therefore, Resolved, That the bid and offer of The Smith Bridge Company, of the city of Toledo, Ohio, to build and construct such proposed new bridge furnishing all of labor and material therefor, in all things according to the plans and specifications, for the sum of fifteen hundred and twenty-two dollars be. and the same is, hereby accepted, and the Board of Public Works is hereby instructed to cause a contract to be executed and exchanged with said Smith Bridge Company therefor, SHch contract to be executed on the part of the city by the President and Clerk of the Board of Public Works. Which resolution prevailed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas- Aid. Mann, Martin, O'Hearn, Taylor, Hall, Kitson and President Cooley- 7. Nays- ifone. To the Cpmmon Council: Gentlemen: The Board of Public Works, would ask for an appropriatiou of $125.00, the amount necessary to grade South University avenue, so that he University authorïties may be able to complete cement walk around campus. Kitson: Resolved, That the following sidewalks be and are hereby ordered graded and constructed within ten doys from September 16 on the west side of Obseryatory street, from Geddes avenue to Ann street and on the east side of Traver street, and in front of lots and premises ownötl and occupied by the following named persons: Alice E. Cooley: Resolved, ïhat the sum of one hundred and twenty-five dollars (8125.00) be and the same is hereby appropriated from the Street Fund, for the purpose of grading South University avenue adjoining the University campus, such grading being deemed a necessary public improvement. Which resolution prevailed by a yea and aay vote as follows: Yeas- Aid. Mann, Martin, O'Hearn, Taylor, Hall, Kitson and President Cooley - 7. Nays- None. By Aid. Martin: Resolved, That the City Clerk is hereby ordered to have one hundred copies printed of the last Council proeeedings. Which resolution prevailed by a yea and nay vote as follows: Yeas - Aid. Mann, Martin, O'Hearn, Taylor, Hall, Kitson and President Cooley- 7. Nays - Jione. On motion, the Council then adjourned. City Clerk.
