President J. Austin Scott's address was full of good humor and of good will toward the society which he had served 8O faithfully during the year. The reporte by the recording und corresponding secretarios and treasurer were adopted and aeccpted. A vote of thanks was tendered to the offlcers of the society in acknowledgment of their services during the year. The followuij? officers were xinauimously elected for the coming year: J. Austin Scott, president; Evart H. Scott, first vice-prcsident; .1. J. Parshall, Wm. McCreery, vice-presidents; J. Ganzhorn, recording sccretary; E. Baur, eo-rrespomding secretary; J. AUmend, treasurer. Exeeutive rammlttee, Wm. F. Bird, A. A. Crozier, J. C. Schenk, H. C. Markham. Prof. J. B. Steere, office of Ornithology; Prof. M. W. Harrington, Climatology; Prof. V. M. Spaulding, Botany; Prof. V. C. Vaughan, Hygiëne; Mr. A. A. Crozier, Entomology. Mr. VV. F. Bird gave a very Ínteresting account of the annual meeting of the State Horticultural society at Eaton RapitLs. Mr. Bird showed 13 varieties of grapes at said meeting. Washtenaw was well represented by Messrs. Evart H. Scott, A. A. Crozier. The Coiumbian Fair will outdo the Centennial and Paris Fairs in the exhibits of Pomology and Hortlculture. Th building for that display will be 1,000x280 feet. Michigan devotes $100,000 for this exbiblt. Every fruit grower is expected to assist in thig great exhibit without any remuiir eratioo. The banquet given by the citizens oï Eaton Bapids to the State Society was a most happy and cheerïul conclusión of this successful meeting. The Austin apple ,exhibited at this meeting was pronounced the best for this season. I wish to correct an error 1 made in my November report. It was not Mr. Wilder, but Charles Dawning, the great pomologist, who naraed this apple of which Hon. J. Austin Seott is tlie originator. At the January meeting of the Washtenaw Horticultural Society, the topics will be: "Nut Culture," by Mr. Ganzhorn, u new nnd important topiir which ncver has been discussed nero.
