Webster Society
A large number of students of the various departments of the University assemblee! in the law lecture room last night, to hear Professor Nathan Abbott's address on "Students of Law in Dickens' Novéis," which was delivered under the auspices of the Webster Society. Professor Abbott prefaced his address with an epitome of Dickens' early career, showing howthegreat novel - ist became afñliated to the legal profession and conversant with its ways. The address was interspersed with selections from Dickens' divers works and at its conclusión Prof. Abbott received a burst of wellmerited applause. The Ann Arbor banjo and guitar club followed with a selection and received a hearty encoré. The programme was closéd with a spirited controversy on the subject: "Resolved, that the lawyer should be a politician," in which Messrs. A. Gravelle and A. I.
