Washington, Dec. 18- The Department cf Agrieulture proposes to adopt an improvement in the Weather Bureau service. The pi-edictkras heretofore made were on the observations at 8 a. m. and for the twenty-four honrs f rom the time the observations were taken. These predictions were neeessarily a little belated, as it Was severa! hours tiefore tiiey could be pi iced before the public. Those published in the morjiing papers were íor a time which had airead v ncarly half expir-.'d, and for the evening papers the rase ivas still worse, as the portion of the time eovered had already elapsed for which the predietions were of most vahie. The pioposed improvement consists in the predictions in each case cover the time imtil midnig'ht of the next day. Whentllis takes piase, which wil] be on .)an. 1 next, the nedictions printed in the morninjf papers will appear earlv in the day to which they apply, while those in the eveningf papers will be for the day after. The public will be informeel on the evening before of the expected weather, and will be given an imi noved foreeast the next if Iniprovement is needed.
