A man of this sort was drav.n ;o serve upon a juvy and did not appear when his name was called in court. The court ordeved that he fce fined twenty-five rlnlbirs. About half an hour afterWard the man appeared in the eourtroom to answer tardily to his name. "Yon have been fint-d twenty-five dollars ior nonattendance," Haid the judge. "But 1 hail a very important business engagement!" said the man. "Did yon iuppose that an engagement would excuse you for not answering the summons of the court?" answered the judge rathcr angrily. The juror, who was a pompóos man witli an important air, begnn to row indignant at being addressed in thls way. "I would have your honor understaud," he exolaimed, "that I am one of the most prominent business men in this community!" "OU! in that case," said thcs jndge quietly, "yon wtU be able to stand a larger line. Mr. Clerk, you will increase this gehtlemaii's üne for nonattendance to üfty lars!"-
