in reply to the query, "Are Italian bees a distinQt race?" the editor of The American Beo Journal says: Italian bees are eertaiuly a distinct vanety, or, as soniecall it, race. Italians do not breed their bees for color beauty or golden baads, while here in America that appears to be the greatest aün of breeders. Ia Italy the bees are dark and there are black (or what appear to be black) bees there too. We noticed tms fact whüe there, and to it we called the attention of the gentlemen who a companied us while "on the spot." Italian bees do not "sport" any more than any other animáis or plants. "How has that railroad into your city affected your prosperity?" "Ruined it. People can get away now for less than it costs to stay."
