T. Mack, of Chelsea, was here the first of the week. R. Erwin and family are entertaining relatives from the east. The Misses Clark, of this place, weAnn erArb or'visitors on Friday. Mrs. T. Burns has opened an ice cream parlor in Dexter village. Miss Nellie Lavey visited friends in Ypsilanti the last of the week. Mrs. L. Jones was among Ann Arbor friends the first of the week. T. Birkett wascalled to thecounty seat on business, last Thursday. Mrs. P. Seper and Mrs. H. Rogers spent Wednesday in Ann Arbor. A party of Websterites were at the lakes several days the past week. Mrs. A. Simpson is spending a few days with her daughter at Jackson. J. Haab and son visited with relatives near Chelsea one day last week. Mrs. O. McClain and Miss Bertha Ferris, of Scio, Sundayed in this place. Byron McCaulay has returned home after several months' sojourn in the far west. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Hooker, of Pinckney, visited friends here the last of the week. Mr. and Mrs. O. Vaughn are having the pleasure of entertaining friends f rom Jackson. Mr. and Mrs. John Pidd were the guests of her parents in Mason the latter part of the week. Mrs. T. Vernon leaves in a short time for a few neeks' visit among relatives in Pennsylvania. Mr. and Mrs. John Shehan, of Hamburg, were the guests of her parents, Saturday and Sunday. Wm. Benz has built one of the finest barns in this place and intends opening it with a large dance for the young people. S. Tuttle and family, of Jackson, was called here on Monday to at:end the funeral of their daughter, Mrs. S. Thurston, jr. Our enterprising wool buyer is making his rounds among the farmers paying them twenty cents a )ound for their washed wool. Austin Goodwin, our former choolmaster, after a short visit at lis oldhome has returned here and vill shear sheep among the farmers during the rest of his vacation. Mrs. Sidney Thurston, jr., died n this place on Saturday, june u. The funeral services were held at he Birkett church on Monday, the remains being interred in the Hudson ceinulery.
