As soon as the early crops- onions, radishes, lettuce, etc. - are harvested, clear the soil and prepare it for second crops.. Keep the celery plants growing by frequent cultivation, and be sure and thin the plants p,s needed. On the thinning of the planta depends inuch of the future success of this erop. Celery plants are by no weans the only ones that require thinning. Thin carrots, beets, onions f rom seed, parsnips and salsify. Stir the surf ace of the soil as f requently as pĆ³ssible among all the garden crops. This cultivation keeps down the weeds and conserves the moisture. Be ready with your spraying apparatus for the potato beetles and slugs. Doirt forget to plant some cuemnbers, especially for pickles, and also set some celery plants for an early erop. i Thorough cultivation and frequent hoeing will make the young bean plants grow vigorously.
