ZOMG TEH GT IS BACK!!1!

WOW. The offseason is finally over. The doors to that temple of videogame prowess that is the Downtown Library Multipurpose Room are about to swing open for AADL-GT Season FIVE! Lots of big changes await this year, some right around the corner and some down the road, but here's the entire season schedule and some info about this weekend's tournaments, featuring Guitar Hero, DDR, Rock Band, Super Smash and Kart! First we've got our first ever Revolution Hero tournament, with simultaneous DDR and Guitar Hero tournaments for all ages, this Friday Night from 6-8:30 pm. Then, this Saturday welcomes the return of the SmashKart Championship Series for grades 6-12 to our annual Preseason event. Recruit for clans, test out rulesets; and Graduated Seniors get one more shot at glory. Then, Sunday sees our first ever Rock Band Tournament for 4-player teams of all ages. Then, Monday sees the next round of the racous battlefest Pokémondays from 1-5pm, all at the Downtown Library. Check it out! And read on for full details.

Welcome back GT faithful! It's been a long, quiet off-season, but I think once we get this highly transitional season off the ground, it will be a brave new era in the ongoing saga of the aadl-gt tournament series. But first, we have no Wiis. Yes, our vendor has not yet delivered the shipment of 8 shiny new Wiis, so we've still got just 1 wii. There are two ways to handle this. First, if any of you guys would like to bring your wii and brawl and kart (we have controllers) we could conceivably pull together the hardware at the last minute. That's up to you; let me know here if you think you'd like to bring your wii and we'll see what we can do! Or, we could have a farewell to Melee and double dash, with finals in Brawl and Kart, and see what happens. Either way, we've got all four events lined up but no clan play... and remember that this is the last tournament for which graduated seniors are eligible. A farewell, as it were.

I just had a wonderfull idea about how to make the season better, we could just get rid of kart, the only ppl who would complain are ppl who prefer to play games based on luck instead of skill anyway...
Also i can bring a wii in, but i really prefer for it to not play gamecube games, the gamecube is an insult to the gaming world. Its not even a cube lets get serious now.

i was also thinking of recruiting more players that are interested in aadlgt cuz we need more players after this year (lotsa seniors)

belive it or not, most ppl who are good at smash would be disgusted at our use of items, and mario kart just isn't as popular as smash, also ELI plz plz plz let us have the choice of using gc controllers for MK, its soo unfair if u don't...

also i forgot that riley wasn't there considering his GW is d-trow into tech chase and thats it, its not really all that its cracked up to be. You straight up over rate both yourself and riley...

the 6 from alpina were, at least in my opinion, really good, though ididn't get to fight all 6 of them, but one of them told me that it wasn't worth a 4 hour drive to come down here to get manhandled by items, so i doubt that well them much...

u say we were lucky with attendance, but 2 of alpina ppl = about as good as lain, when hes not being "That Guy" with IC's. i only really got to get the sense of 2 of them's 1v1 skills, i played another in a team match, but i didn't get too much out of it. also Arjan was there. Hes not too bad.

Also my throat hurts from all the trash talk taht i did, next time im going to have to bring some lozenges with me or something

still didnt answer my question of who got top 3 for each brawl event

i "overrate" riley because i know hes been to the digiops/rofas tourneys so i know he knows what hes doing, unlike most of the ppl that go to the library

and as for me........u know that digiops tourney u went to but only played doubles and i only showed up for singles.........i got 4th then..........sooo get frooooeddd, i only lost to Joel and hes the best in MI (either him or anther but he beat anther at cygamez)

the only reason i would lose in these library tourneys is if i get owned by items, but no johnz

uh... dude the reason i only sty for dubz is because i hav to catch a ride home...

and top 3 for each event was for singles Dan from alpina 2 pl;ace i think was aikem, (though he really didn't deserve it, his opponent got stage killed by rumble falls in previous match. 3rd was zane (the guy who got stage killed also from alpina) fourth was julian who gotz teh uber easy bracket. dubz first was me and john, 2nd was Arjan... and ryan, though it really was Arjan. 3rd, it migt of beentp2 and his brother... i really didn't pay attention cause me and john were too busy talking trash lol.

also riley lost to marcus when marcus hadn't been playing the game for a couple of months thatz not the best def. of "knowing what you're doing"lol...

and I would go to more biweeklies... but i really don't have rides and all that and i h8 having to catch the bus... i just have to settle for gamebattles...

and if u cared about mkwii placings... we didn't play it...

Will there be a Rock Band tournament every tournament weekend? Because while I know that my band will never be able to beat Major Tom's incredible alliance, I think that we could place second if we had prepared for the tournament a little better.

Thanks for a great weekend, guys... we've got a lot of stuff unlocked on our wiis and the rock band tournament was awesome. We've got rock band at the art fair, 10 AM - Noon friday near the belltower. Then we'll have another rock band tourney Sunday 8/10 from 1-4. We hadn't planned on Rock Band the rest of the season, we'll have to see if the turnout picks up in August.

swordmaster idk who the roysters are but i don't think they were there.

brinstar wasn't banned 4 melee i forgot same goes for norfair i put them on the list because of the lava

delfino could almost be considered a neutral stage, come to think of it

yet halberd w/ the combo cannon and the laser blaster thing have me concerned

i also forgot that onett wasnt banned 4 melee either (only a few were)

the only one i fully disagree with is PictoChat, because some of the drawings are put to a disadvantage to some players more than others.

to put it simple, I JUST HATE HANENBOW

shadow moses you can easily rack up damage by cornering your opponent

distant planet the slug thing (i dispise that thing as well) and the slope when it rains

pirate ship the bombs from overlooking platforms, but other than that, pretty much neutral

i completely understand that you, tutu, would choose green hill zone over any other stage.............i suppose theres nothing wrong with it

i was really unsure of what you think is a disadvantage, of course i was looking for stages that were around 90 - 100% neutral my mistake

i think that we should ban snake... or smash balls... snake is already broken enough no need to break him more... no need to ban sonic though (just in case some1 was going to suggest it...)... smash balls really dont help out sonic all that much... seeing as he is a bad character and all that ...

also norfair... lava really isn't all that bad...
distant planet takes a fool to get killed by the slug...
pictocaht destroys me personally... but it really isn't all that bad...
also halberd's stage weapons are incredibly slow and predictable, it would take either a genius or a fool to use them to advantage or disadvantage
also green hill zone is an awfull stage... if uaren't playng without music... then its the best stage in the game... though i really could understand if we banned it...

bumper but not dragoon? really?

also we should ban:
lightning (if we ban timers)
pokeballs too (too many additions are way to broken(eg. kyogre, latios/as, etc.))

those should be the rules because they're the result of much thought and testing.

Halberd's cannon, laser, and arm are all weak defenses. the cannon is slow, and unless you're dumb, you won't get hit by it. the laser can be di'ed out of SO easily. just don't stop moving or shielding or dodging... or jumping..... to avoid the arm.

pictochat is not a bannable stage. there is like 1 thing that can kill (the arrow things, and only if you jump blatantly into the top. there ARE certain annoyances, but nothing big.

limabean: Well, I couldn't go to the GH tourney for the whole thing, but I did play one song and put up a score that nobody touched the whole night, and it was a crappy run for me. Granted, it was GH2, which is the first GH game I ever played, so that probably had something to do with it. Also, there's another Rock Band tournament coming up on August 10th, which is a Sunday again. I feel pretty safe in saying I'll dominate that (with my band, of course).

lain: Trust me, Eli won't let you back in. Though you should come to some of the other events, I want to play you in Brawl, cause I don't think we've ever faced eachother. I know you'll destroy me, but I want to see how long I can last, just for the lulz.

I have to agree with everything swordmaster said exept for his disagreeing about lain being able to play, and PS1, Lylat cruise, and Yoshi's Island should be counterpickable :P

Angus i kno that dragoon is cheap which is why i was wondering y on your banned items list why you had the bumper listed and not the dragoon... also believe it or not i doubt that my clan is going to be any good. It's going to be me and B00M, and possibly robin while the rest of our clan spamms like n00bs. These are my estimated players that will matter this season The Asian Invasion, Riley, B00M, and Tutu

Also there really is no reason to ban GW and Ganon, they arent broken characters with broken Final smashes...like snake...

tutu i know but ganondorf and g&w suck g&w's final smash can be avoided with ease if you do it properly he has lots of weak moves it would take someone as good as you to even rack up damage let alone kill your opponent therefore hes a broken character

i guess ganondorf's final smash is alright but he is almost as slow as snake on the other hand he can pwn ppl with a few hits, unlike snake

OMG GW is not broken... all he has is d-throw into tech chase, basically MINDGAMES, nothing broken about mindgames

and GAnon more powerfull than snake? What? r u high or soemthing? snake kills at about the same percentages that gannon can kill at, but snake does it with disjointed hitboxes, and bs priority, basically snake does it better. and if ganon gets the final smash... he deserves the it lol, cause im never lettng a ganon get the smash ball... ever...

idk what speed u are talking abut angus... ganon has the slowest dash speed in the game...
and all but like snakes smashes are fairly fast... with high priority... which makes them seem faster...
... my voice stopped cracking like 3 years ago... about the time i grew my beard...
and we really should let lain back in... withoiut lain the aadlgt will be like spammers, me, more spammers, items, and crappy stages... did i mention spammers...?

i finally played snake today he truely is a broken character wtf is wrong with him if you were to choose a broken character (besides snake) who would it be? i kinda took a guess at g&w and ganon because to me they arent high tier

perhaps i was wrong about ganon but it is hard to hit people with snake hes so screwed up if youre going to do a smash attack it should be fast, effetient and should be a physical attack (this goes for olimar as well) what kind of idiot would just walk into a C2 anyway?

i have a sudden interest towards virtual console (vc) games they have some of the best as of now all except for SMRPG i WANT that game only problem is we dont know when they release it in USA which really annoys me they also took the esrb rating off of it for the vc = twice as annoying. after smrpg came pm another national phenomenon then m&l:ss, then pm:ttyd, then m&l:pit, then, if you count it as an rpg game, super pm..........

smrpg = father of all nintendo rpg games

I cant sit idly by as ppl plead for aaron to join their respective clans lol i think aaron has more to worry about from me than any1 else here... IMHO of course...
also i think u should let me and marcus(but me takes priority if lack of positions occurs) join ur clan(riley) i do happen to be proficent(i use this term lightly and most likely misspelled) with the three princesses (Peach, Zelda, Marth) of brawl and marcus can teir whore like the teir whoring tool lol he is but he does it beter than most...

Ok so let me make sure i understand this. The preseason is gamecube kart and smash, but the rest of the season both games will be played on the wii?

i think that if people don't bring their wiis it will be gamecube kart and smash, but if they do itll be wii stuff

And I've won 3 GH tournaments here at the library, so that should give you some indication.

EDIT: Wellllll, ok, you're going to win this one probably, because I have to work tonight. I'm still going to be down there for part of it though, so we can do some Pro Face-Off to see who is the better plastic guitar player.

Update: Kip and I were able to secure 3 additional new Wiis for the library today. (The spirit of Yamauchi-san has smiled upon us). We've got 4 copies of brawl too. So if any of you want to come tonight and help us open up characters in brawl, that would be much appreciated. Also, we'll be having some exhibition matches over Nintendo WFC against the best brawlers at the Detroit Public Library, so come on down and represent AADL-GT on a larger stage! Yup, tonight's GH will be GH2, faceoff, no long songs, top scores advance to finals.
