Ears Worth $350
Last week brief mention was made u our local columns of a fight in Dexer, during which Jacob Stoll, a Dexter jarber. had a piecc of his ear bitten off by Jay Warren, and of the fact that omplaint had been made in Justice ïutts' court. On ïuesday of this week .he matter was settled, the complaint )eing withdrawn. Warren paid Stoll 5350 for the piece of the ear that was bitten off, which is of course considerable more than the weight of the ear would come to in gold. If the ancient iraetiee at one time in vogue in Engand of compounding mayhem and nanslaughter by the payment of money veré again to come into use, at the ate of S350 for a piece of an ear, how nuch would a wliole man be worthV 'nat is a question our readers who are 'some on flggers" may ponder over.
