Mrs. J. Bell spent Sunday with Chelsea friends. J. Trautuine was an Ann Arbor visitor, Thursday. Mr. Spooner was in this place on business, Monday. Gus Jedele has purchaseda brand new threshing machine. T. Birkett made a business trip to Ann Arbor, Monday. Henry Fleming spent one day of last week in Stockbridge. P. Guinon and S. Crane were Ann Arbor visitors, Friday. Sam Davis was among friends in this place one day last week. Pat McCabe was in this place on business last Saturday evening. J. Jedele made a flying trip to Ann Arbor. on Saturday evening. Dan Stofoot, of Chubb's Corners, spent the past week in this place. Miss Eva Hill is spending her vacation with her aunt in Detroit. Mr. Burr and daughter were among friends here on Wednesday. Miss Josie' Higgins has returned home after a week's visit at Quebec. Mr. Serviss, of Ann Arbor, spent baturday and bunday in this place. Chas. Rockwell, of Fosters, made a cali on oíd friends here, Wednesday. Mr. Schoen and family entertained relatives from Bridgewater on Tuesday. The whistles of steam threshers are again heard in nearly all directions. Andrew Straith, of Grand Rapids, is visiting with George Bell and family. Mrs. McMahon and daughter have been spending a few days at W. D. Smith's. Mrs. Patrick Fleming and daughter were the Sunday guests of her sister in Webster. Miss Edith Warren is now clerking in the dry goods department of Alley & Son's store. Mrs. J. Monahan and children, of Geddes, are being entertained by her sister for a few days. Miss Annie Vincent, accompanied by her sister May, of Ann Arbor, are at the lakes for a short time. Mrs. Michael Hoey and children, of Chicago, are spending the summer with her mother, Mrs. A. Gallagher. John Burke, of Cadillac, and sister, Miss Rose, ' of Northfield, were the guests of J. Foran and sister on Thursday. Ern Howard has purchased a new separator and will now be able to do a good share of the threshing to he done in this vicinity. Mrs.Wm. Stevens, of Stockbridge, and Mrs. Wm. Hooker, of Pinckney, called on their old neighbor in this place, Saturday. Mrs. R. Flintoft, accompanied by her son and daughter, made her daughter, Mrs. A. Taylor, a very pleasant visit one day last week. Norman Reason and sister, Miss Annie, of Pinckney, and Miss Emily Wright, of Mason, were the guests ot the Misses Taylor, Wednesday. Fred Andrews, after a few weeks of hard labor on the farm, has returned to the village and taken his old position as clerk in J. Costello's store. Quite a number from this place attended the races at Stockbridge, which were held there last week. They report of having some fine horses there this year. A team of horses belonging to Frank Carpenter while at work in the harvest field, became frightened by the wagon tongue falling down. The men were badly bruised but no bones were broken. We are pleased to learn that the Hudson Dwarfs won the bet against the Dexter Giants in the tug of war contest which was held in Dexter villagelast Saturday evening. A large crowd of people gathered around them to see and hear the shouts of joy from the winners.
