A Grave Yard Insurance Case
Deputy State Insurance Comuiissioner McKnight, of Lansing, swore out a warrant before Justicè Pond last evening for the arrest of George W. Burkhardt, of Detroit for engagiug in tlie business of gra'veyard insurance. Burkbardt claimed to be president of the Sons of Industry, a co-oporative company with headquarters in Detroit, and also manager. He claimed tbat there was a lodge of the order in Detroit and had nuinerous agents in the state. The deputy insurance ■ missioner states that there is no lodge nd that BurkUardt constitutes the ompaiiy. Tliey insured 150 in Jackon and did a big business in Saginaw, hrough agents, but the state was after Burkhardt himself and found a Chelea man whom Burkhardt had solicited 'or insurance and consequently the variant was proctired in this eouuty. ■he plan was to insure everyoue, no natter to what age they had arrived.
