Girls of a marriageable age do not ike toitell how old they are, but you can find out by following thesubjoined nstruction, the young lady doing the figuring: Teil lier tq put down the ïumber of the mouth in which she was orn, then to multipy it by 2, then to add 5, then to multiply it by 50, then o Hdd her age, theu to subtract 305, then to add 145, then feil her to teil 'ou the amount she has left. The two igures to the right will teil you her age uid the reinainder the month of her )irth. For example the amount is 822; she is 22 yeais old and was bon n the 8th month of (August). Try it - Plymouth Man. Yes, try it, and if you teil your girl her age arrived at by the above arithmetical calculation, you will have to iiunt up a new girl, that's all. Take the example ot the Mail. Mary was born in the eighth month and is twenty two years old. The calculation runs like this: 8x2 add 5=21. 21 x 50=1,050. 1050 add 22-365 add 145=852. Teil Mary that she is 52 years old and imagine the result. The Mail is off in its calculations. If instead of subtracting 365, the number to subtract had been placed at 395, the calculatiou would have been correct. There is nothing niysterious about these figures. The month in which the young lady is boni is multiplied by two and then by fifty, which is the same as multiplying it by 100, which of course would bring the month as the fust figure of the final result. The five which is first added is multiplied by flfty, which results in 250 added. The figures 395 are then subtracted and 145 added, which is the same as subtracting 250. Adding 250 and subtracting 250 leaves the figures where they were, and when in the middle of the calculation the young lady unwisely adds her age, of course the last two figures of the final result show it. The probleni resolved to its simplest form is niultiply the month in which the girl w;is born by 100 and add her age and the tirst figure of the result will show the month in which she was born and the two other figures will show her age.
