Mrs. Wm. Sweetman is entertaining her sister. J. Schaberly was here on business the last of the week. Hudson Dwarfs now have a club house in their little village. Frank Lavey and his lady friend spent Sunday in this place. Hugh McCabe made a business trip to Chelsea on Monday. Miss May Lavey spent Monday with her cousins inPutnam. It is rumored that we are to have a deer park on Prospect hill. Fred Alley and Mr. Spooner were in this place one day last week. Mrs. Carpenter entertained Pinckney friends the past week. ■Miss Stoll, who has been sick for some time, is slowly recovering. Mr. and Mrs. Aden Cushing were among friends here on Saturday. Dick Bell has purchased a cyclone duster for his threshing machine. Miss Blanche Cushman has been at Cavanaugh lake for a few days. Jay Shehan, of Pinckney, spent Sunday with his friend in this place. Mrs. Vernam is entertaining friends from abroad for a few days. Miss Mate Cobb"enjoyed a visit from Pinckney friends last Sunday. Miss Lizzie Geraghty spent part of last week with friends in ney. Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler, of Putnam, visited with relatives here on Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Curlettcamped at Portage lake syeral days last week. Mr. Patrick Lyon, of Detroit, has been visiting relatives here the past week. Mrs. Wm. Cobb is visiting her daughters at Jackson for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs, John Hill are entertaining friends at the lakes for a few days. Mrs. John Bell and Miss Ellen Taylor spent Monday with Chelsea relatives. Mr. Martin, of North Webster, called on old friends here one day last week. I Mr. Canfield, of Sylvan, spent Friday and Saturday of last week in this place. Misses Maggie and Carrie Fleming have returned home from their Ann Arbor visit. Mr. and Mr?. Joseph Parsons and son were the guests of her parents on Sunday. Michael Hoey, of Chicago, is spending his vacation with relatives in this place. The Baptist Sunday school celebrated last Friday with a picnic at Portage lake. John Scheiferstein, sr., and son Henry, were Ann Arbor visitors one day last week. Mr. O. J.Schwarz,of near Adrián, has opened a new clothing store in Dexter village. Mr. ' Miles and daughter spent Sunday with his daughter, Mrs. Jewell, in this place. Mr. E. Serviss has returned to Ann Arbor after several days of camp life at the lakes. Mr. John Firth, of Owosso, is spending a few weeks with his many friends in this vicinity. The smiling face of Mr. Valentine, of Hamburg, was again seen upon our streets last Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. James Harris and baby, of North Lake, visited his sister in this place, Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. C. Brogan and family, of Marión, spent Sunday with Mrs. Brogan's mother in this place. John McComb and cousin, George McComb, of Toledo, have been visiting with relatives here for the past few days. H. and J. McCabe have been entertaining their cousin for a few days during his vacation from the college at Ann Arbor. Who says we have not got some beautiful lakes in this section? When people from the city of Detroit come and camp on their borders. Extensive improvements are being made in our little village of Hudson. Among them is the moving of the blacksmith shop some distancefrom where it formerly stood. We are very sorry to loose one of our most prominent business men, Fred Staebler, who is about to move on his father's farm near AnnArbor. His father will move to the city of Ann Arbor.
