■ A Democrat who claims to know all about it informs the Enterprise that the "ring" at Ann Arbor have fixed up everything for the coming county convention. All the candidates have been decided on and will be nominated to theirchoice. Sharon, Freedom, Bridgewater and Manchester are not "in it." They have strength enough in the county to elect their men without any assistance from this part of the county. VVell, perhaps! - Manchester Enterprise. We were much surprised to see such a gross statement in the Enterprise, which is, presumably at least, a fair independent journal depending upon a Democratie constituency for its support. We.quote it in full for the purpose of unqualifiedly denying it. We can do so with better grace, for as the Democrats of the county well know the editor of this paper was defeated for nomination at the last Democratie county convention and consequently cannot be charged with being one of what has been termed "the ring at Ann Arbor." We wish to say now that there does not now exist in Ann Arbor a ring to control Democratie county nominations. The county officers do not constitute such a ring. The most of them are keeping their hands off the next Democratie convention, in every sense of the term keeping hands off. Some of them may have preferences among the numerous candidates but we venture that not more than two of them favor the same candi date. The candidates for office have not yet been decided upon There never was a fairer campaign run for county nomination, and no man today can teil the composition of the nextDemocraticcounty ticket The Enterprise goes out of its way to endeavor to stir up the Democrats in the south-western part o the county by saying that "Sharon Freedom, Bridgewater, and Man chester are not in it." Now, the truth is and the editor of the Enterprise rrtust know it that Sharon, Bridgewater, and Man chester have not a candidate for county office. How could they ex peet a nomination without a candi date. The only candidate from Freedom is Jacob Knapp, ex-county treasurer, who is a candidate for sheriff. He is on an equal footing with the other candidates, unless as is rumored Densmore Cramer has his proxy at the next congressiona! convention. If this is true, Knapp will find Cramer a heavy load to carry. If not true, and we expectto find Mr. Knapp himself in the congressional convention, which would constitute ampie denial to the rumor, he will have an equal chance with the rest of the candidates. As things ndw look the delegation from Ann Arbor city will be largely divided. After this statement of the case may we not be allowed to enquire the motive of the Enterprise in misrepresenting county Democratie politics, or if the item was simply a thoughtless one, to ask them to publish this answer?
