Mis. Johanua Clancy, for many years resident in this city at the north-west corner of Ashley and Catherine streets but resident in Canada for some yeara past, diecl tliere the early part of tbis week, at an extreme oíd age. Her remains were brought bere for burial and were interred yesterday afternoon in the Catholic cemetery. She bas a large number of relativos in this city and vicinity. lier busband died more thiin twenty years ago. Those wbo knew the appearance of of that part of the west side of North Main street lying between the old jail property and Summit street, would not recognize it now as being the same place. New houses have been built, an immense amount of filling thrown in, raising the grounds above the level of the street, old houses have been elevated, and u new boiler and engine repairing shop erected at the culvert over Allen's creek. As will be noticed by those who read the council proceedingH the council adopted the report of the water committee looking tovvards making a new contract witli the Ann Arbor Water Company. The committee who hav the matter in hand now consists of Aid. "Ferguson, Fillmore, Rehberg, Martin, and Prettyman. This is the most important committee appointed by the council this year, and a great deal depends upon the exercise of good judgtnent byjts members. Island Lake encampment was captured, as it we re, by au invading arm y of our citizens, last Sunday. Trains of nine to eleven coaches eaeh, on the Toledo road, conveyed them to the scène of war, and were filled to their utmost capacity. Strenuous etforts , were made to entertain them by the "boys in blue," and when the visitors left the supply of camp rationa was found to be deplorably depleted. The Light Infantry were glad to see thei friends and did all they could to mak them comfortable. The parade of the Maccabees in De troit, next Tuesday. will be over th following line of march: Down Miam avenue, Monroe to Woodward, acros Woodward and up Michigan to Cas street, to Lafayette avenue, east t Griswold street, down Griswold to th south side of Jefferson, east to Has tings, countermarching on the nort side of Jefferson to Woodward, up Woodward to the reviewing stand on the Campus Martius,where the column will pass in review before the grea commander. Sid W. Millard has been choseu marshal of the day for the WasÜtenaw County división, and will act as such.
