T. Birkett lost a valuable cow last week. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. WirtBuckalew, a son. Bo.rn, to Mr. and Mrs. John Howard, a son. Tip Ball was in this place several days last week. A party of Pinckney people are in camp at Portage lake. Miss Maud Barber has returned from her Sumpter visit. Alfred Lavey visited in Ann Arbor one day last week. Miss J. Harris is the guest of Tier cousin, Miss May Lavey. Mr. and Mrs. G. Smith and family spent Sunday here. Mrs. Chas. Carpenter, sr., has returned from Ann Arbor. Sherman Sackett spent Sunday with his friend in this place. Wm. Carpenter visited his brothers in Ann Arbor, last week. Daniel Hoey, of Scio, was in this place on business the last of the week. Mr. and Mrs. L. Chamberlain spent Sunday with relatives at North lake. Mrs. Wm. Sweetman is spending a few days with her sister in troit. Miss Nell Fleming visited with her aunt in Webster the last of the week. Mrs. Henry Neel is enjoying a visit with friends in Ohio for a few weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Byron Green and family are entertaining friends f rom abroad. Mr. B. Allen, of Pinckney, was among old friends here the last of the week. Miss Julia Reade spent several days of last week with friends at Pinckney. Mr. and Mrs. T. McComb and family are entertaining relatives for a few days. Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Quish and baby called on Ann Arbor friends on Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Jake Stoll spent Thursday in Detroit and took in the exposition. John Roberts, jr., of Milford, made his father a short visit the last of the week. Mr. and Mrs. Omar Moore and family were visitors in this place last Tuesday. Mr. Schaberly shook hands with his many Ann Arbor friends one day last week. Mrs. E. Carpenter entertained friends from Stockbridge and Pinckney last week. Reider Bros. have secured Mr. Turner, of Ypsilanti, to do their blacksmith work. Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Alley, of Brighton, were the guests of his parents last week. Clayton Goodwin is home for a vacation before taking charge of the school at Okemos. Henry Harris and family, of South Putnam, Sundayed with his sister in this place. Miss Lulu Arms, of Ypsilanti, spent the last of the week with friends in this place. Dr. Fred Warren is expected home from Denver, Col., in a few days to visit his mother. Mr. and Mrs. Agur Taylor made her parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. Flintoft, a visit last Tuesday. The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Staebler will now find them at their new home in Scio. A large crowd from this place attended the farmers' picnic at Whitmore lake last Saturday. Mrs. N. Carr and family have been entertaining friends from abroad the past few days. Mr. T. Stanton and son, Deo, attended the Prohibition'convention at Ann Arbor last Friday. Mrs. H. J. Rogers has returnec home after several days' visit among her old friends at Pinckney. Mr. Waldron, of Jackson, ha been the guest of his daughter, Mrs O. Vaughn, the past week. Messrs. John and James Gallaghe and John Hoey were at the county seat on business last Friday. Mr. and Mrs. John Hall anc family are entertaining their friend Miss Myrta Peters, of Chicago. The Hudson Manufacturing Co are busy working on the dam. They intend raising it four feet higher. The mason work for the ne bridge just north of the Joseph Mc Guinness farm has been completed Mrs. M. Hoey and children anc Miss Anna Gallagher were the guest of their uncle and aunt in this place Tuesday. The ladies of St. Joseph's Catholi church gave an ice cream and cak social on their lawn last Saturda evening. Quite a number from this plac attended the farmers' picnic a Haze's grove, near Pinckney, o Tuesday. H. L. Stoup, of the Ypsilanti Daper Co. , is the guest of his daugher and looking after his interests in üs place. Chas. Schoen and Will Taylor pent part of the week in Detroit nd visited the exposition and other oints of interest. E. Stanton and Miss C. Carpener, of this place, and some of their inckney friends, spent Sunday at he Portage bluffs. Charlie Darling has returned to is home in Flint after a year's stay with his sister, Mrs. C. Bell, and atending school in this place. Prof. Shartan and family are now ettled in their new home in Dexter illage. The Prof. will take charge f the school the coming year. Deloras Johnson, oldest son of iorace Johnson, died at his father's ome on Thursday raorning, Aug. 5th, 1892. The funeral was held n Saturday. Mrs. James Smith died at her ome in Dexter village, Thursday morning, Aug. 25th. The funeral ervices were held Saturday afteroon at 2 o'clock. Mr. and Mrs. Bunn spent last "riday at Whitmore lake in helping Irs. B.'s father, Mr. Holmes, to elebrate his sixth-eighth birthday. ie was the recipiënt of many beauiful presents from his children. Among them was a large rocking hair.
