Inasmuch as there is danger of cholera obtaining a foothold in this country, several slnps with cholera on board already haviug reached New York harbor, and as Ann Arbor is on one of the main arteries of comraunication with the world, vigorous measures vvill be taken to put the city on a good sanitary basis. The council has appropi iated $500 for the work. The board of health held an important meeting Tuesday evening and decided to have a thorough inspection of all the premises in the city. The following sanitary inspectors were appointed: First ward, Martin Clark. Second ward, Lee Kapp. Third ward, W. J. Clark. Fourth ward. Frank O'Hearn. Fifth ward, William Acton. Sixth ward, Isaac X oble. Tlie inspectors will begin their work immediately and the board hopes that every one will have their premises in flrst-class sanitary condition when the inspectors cali . A record of the condition of all premises will be kept and a vigorous effort will be made to promptly abate all nuisauces. Only by perfec freedom from filth can the city hope to escape the ravages of cholera should it obtain a good foothold in this country. This is one of the cases where an ounce of prevention is worth many pounds of cure and the inspection will aid also in preventing many other diseases. It is hoped that every one will do all in their power to help the good work along.
