School began Monday with a full attendance. Mrs. Wilber, of Quificy, visited Milan last week. The Rebekah dance at Gay's hall was well attended. There were no services at the Baptist church, Sunday. Mrs. Belle Taylor left for Bay City, Friday morning. Mr. and Mrs. A. Andrews visited Stony Creck, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Sloan are entertaining guests from Chicago. Miss Sarah Wheaton, of Chicago, is visiting Milan friends. Mrs. Kelly and daughter returned from Oak Harbor, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. A. Dexter visited Ypsilanti the last of the week. Wm. Whitmarsh and family returned from Zukey lake, Thursday. Mrs. J. C. Harper returned from her Grand Rapids sojourn, Saturday. Rev. P. Mudge, whohas been very ill, is now able to fill his pulpit again. Dr. Chapin is now one of the school board. He succeeds Dr. Pyle as trustee. Mr. J. H. Smïtfi and F. Heath have opened a job printing office in the Blackmer block. R. Marwelsky, of Dundee, will open a new dry goods store in one of the Gay stores in a few days. The Baptist missionary societj meet at Mrs. G. R. Williams residence, Wednesday afternoon. Andrew Braman is very sick and it is feared he will not recover. He has been ill for a month with consumption. Died, Saturday morning, September 10, Wilber Barns, the infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Mell Barnes. The remains were taken to Quincy for nterment. Mr. Chas. Schmitt has furnished lis saloon in fine style. The fixtures vere purchased in Detroit and reort says cost $1,000. A f ree dinner s to be given, Tuesday, to the pubic, the day of the opening. Dr. Mary Christiancy, a missionry from North India, spoke at the M. E. church Sunday morning, ubjcct, "Oúr Mission Work in ndia." The house was crowded nd all were deeply interested. Chas. Rice was seriously hurt last 'uesday by sliding from a hay stack nto a broom handle. The stick enetrated the abdominal regions bout six inches. He suffered great )ain at first, but is doing well at Dresent. Rev. J. W. McGregor and wife eave for Washington, D. C. , Saturay. They will take advantage of he excursión rates and visit a jrothsr who is preaching at Georgeown, a suburb of Washington city.
