The University School of Music wiH be opened Oct. 1 , and the work of teaching will be begun on Monday, Oct. 3. We cannot too emphatically impress upon our citi.ens the importance of supporting an enterprise which will not only bring a large number of students to town, but which will also be of great value in advancing the fine reputation which Ann Arbor already enjovs in musical circles. The school is to be conducted upou a broad basis, musically and intellectually, and is uot intended to be destructive of what is being done by others to encourage the study of music, but on the contrary, to be helpf ui to all whose work is being faithfully directed to that end. The members of the faculty are all of them fine artists and experieuced teachers, and menjwhose sympatlaies are classical, and whose efforts will be directed to the attainment of a more thorough understanding and consequent appreciation of the best in musical literature. The prices of instruction will be extremely moderate, and the uniform cate of instruction has been the legitĂmate outcome of the guiding principal which will regĂșlate the work, viz: The quality of the instruction given in all grades must be the very best, and the additional teachers engaged as the requirements dernand, will be of the same high grade as those composing the present facult. Prof. Stanley will be in the office of the school, Newberry Hall.from 9 to 12 a. m., and 2 to 4 p.m. the coming week to meet pupils.
