Corn and potatoes, in these parts, are a very late erop. Some pieces of wheat are up, and they look very nice. Mrs. Henry Wills has been very sick, but is some better now. F. A. Shuart is improving his home with a coat of paint. The rain carne just in time for the farmers to get in their wheat. Avery Downer, of Grand Rapids, is visiting friends in this vicinity. Rev. Tedman will preach here another year, so the M. E. conference says. Mrs. Rebecca Johnson has got her widow's pension. It carne in time to do her some good before she dies. She has been sick some time with a cáncer. A number of base ball players from this vicinity went over to Saline last Saturday and played the Saline boys. Saline came out ahead one score. Pretty close game, boys. Try it again. The little year-old daughter of Ed. Hawkins was bitten by a large rattle snake while playing in the door yard last Saturday. The little one's arm, where the snake struck it, was much much inflamed, and at present writing there is not much hopes of its life. The snake was killed.
