Marcus Cook has returned from New York city. Wheat is growing rapidly now af ter the rain. Most of the farmers are through with sowing wheat now. Cook & Jedele shipped a carload of poultry from here last Friday. Born, to Mr. and Mrs. John SchĂșltz, a daughter, Monday, Sept. i9th. Valentine Bros. will soon ship about two hundred Shropshires to Texas. v Spooner Bro's are manufacturing their Solid Comfort bed springs in the shop across the river. John Schaufele lost a valuable horse last week. The horse had stepped on a nail several weeks ago, causing blood poisoning. Mr. John Spiegelberg and sister, Hattie, Wm. Fischer and wife and Lily Neeb returned from Cleveland last Monday, after a few days' visit with friends. L. L. James has moved his stock of drugs to the L. D. Alley store, which has been greatly improved in looks by the new plate glass front and the new floor. Some thieves tried to enter Mr. Keller's saloon one night last week, but were foiled in the attempt, and received a warm reception from a revolver. Who the guilty parties are is unknown.
