DRev. F. E. Arnold officiated 'at the Baptist church last Sunday. The village marshal is closing up the collecting of the village taxes. A car load of poultry will be shipped fróm here the last of this week. The company has torn down the old water tank west of the freiht depot. s The insect is reported to be at work in the wheat. Frost and rain are very much needed. Luman Shepherd, of Olivet, was here on Tuesday to attend the funeral of Mrs. Spaulding. Miss Agie McKone. of Lansing is home this week and entertaining several Lansing friends. The street sprinkler is running later than usual on account of the dry dusty time we have. Rev. L. N. Moon and family arnved last Tuesday, and he will be m his pulpit next Sunday. uite a numberfrom here attended the Stockbridge fair this week and report it as quite a success. Rev. J. H. Mclntosh was here the first of the week, removing his family and goods to Grass Lake. The Ladies' Relief Corps will have a social and entertainment at their hall, Friday night, this week. Rev. D. F. Winton officiated at the M. E. church last Sunday. He is located at Fenton this year. Prof. Hall is making arrangements to celébrate Columbus Day in becoming manner in the public school. Preparations are being made for the fair next week, and if the weather continúes good it will be well attended Jas. L. Gilbert returned last week from another trip to Missouri, to attend the sitting of the board of supervisors. t John Wisner, of Manchester, moved Albert Winans' house from Orchard street , to West Middle street last week. Geo. Shanahan and Matthew Hankard, the Lyndon jurymen for :his term of court, came home Wednesday. There will be no jury cases tried this term. There will be a social at the parors of the M. E. church next week, Wednesday night, that the people nay make the acquaintance of the the new pastor and his family. Mrs. W. H. Dancer, Mrs. D.V B. l'aylor, Mrs. C. M. Bowen, and Mrs. M. G. Hill went to Manchester, Thursday, to attend the county convention of the W. C. T. U. The first political speeches of the campaign delivered here will be next week at the fair. Jas. O'Donnell for the Republicans, Wednesday, and J. Logan Chipman, Gov. Winans, and L. H. Salsbury for the Democrats, Thursday. Arrivals of farm produce have much increased this week, though rfces are no better. Wheat stands at 69 cents for red or white; rye, 56 ets.; oats, 31 cents; barley comes in reely at $1.15 to Sr. 20; beans, L1.50 to $ 1.65: clover seed, S5.50: potaoes, 70 cents; pears, $1 for choice; :omatoes, 60 cents; eggs, ij cents; jutter, 18 cents; chickens, 8 cents )er pound; dressed pork, 6 cents.
