Early Monday morniDg some miscieatit cut down the Republican banner across Main street, in this city. The deed was done ibont four o'clock, and as the lights were out it was densely dark. ïhe pólice heard a noise and went to where the banner was, and found it hanging across the trolley wire. They took it oír, and rolling ït up, left it at one side of the street. In the morning it was found back of Southard's, where it had evidently been dragged. ïhe Democratie county committee offered a'rewaïd of $25 for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons who did the deed. ïhe Republican committee afterwards offered a reward of $50 for the saine information, The attempt to hold the Democratie party responsible for the deed. made by the Courier and Register, is a sorry effort, as wil] be more fully shown when tlie perpetrator of the deed is discovered.
