The weevil of the bean bug deposits its eggs in the young beans soon after tliey have formeel, puneturing through the jiod. The grubs or larvse change iiito beetles or weevils in the beans and live over winter in them. Vick says that the best vvay to manage is to place the beans in a close box or cask and then introduce into it a cup containing a small quantity of bisulphide of carbon, the fumes of which, in a few hours, -will destroy the insects. As this substance i.s highly inflammable, one should not go near it with a lamp or candle.
