A New Gas Company.

The Ann Arbor Fuel Gas Co. has filed articles of incorporation with the county clerk. The capital stock is $100,000, in 10,000 shares. The objects of the Corporation are stated to be: "To construct and operate gas works, and lay pipes through the streets, alleys, and public places of the city of Ann Arbor, Mich., for the purpose of supplying fuel gas to citizens, corporations or the city, and also for furnishing gas or electricity for lighting or power purposes." The following persons each have 1,000 shares, ten per cent. of which has been paid in: James H. Wade, Harrison Soule, B. M. Thompson, Chas. E. Hiscock, Frederick Schmid, Levi D. Wines, L. Gruner, Herman Hutzel, W. D. Harriman, John R. Miner.

The company expects to apply for a franchise of the city at an early date and to furnish gas for fuel and lighting purposes at a price not exceeding seventy-five cents a thousand feet. The gas is made from coal and petroleum by a new process which is claimed to produce gas at a much lower cost than the old methods. This will go a long ways toward solving the problem of cheaper light, fuel and gas which is bothering so many citizens. The following directors were elected at a meeting held at Judge Harriman's office, Monday evening: Fred. Schmid, C. E. Hiscock, L. D. Wines, W. D. Harriman, J. H. Wade, Herman Hutzel and L. Gruner. The directors elected Fred. Schmid, president; W. D. Harriman, vice president; and L. Gruner, secretary and treasurer.
