Wm. L. Marquardt was in Detroit, yesterday. Dr. W. A. Campbell spent Saturday in Ypsilanti. J. E. Hurley, of Detroit, was in the city, Tuesday. Erwin Schmid is recovering from an attack of quinsy. Hon. A. J. Sawyer is recreating at Cavanaugh Lake this week. Hon. Edward Duffy is suffering from an attack of rheumatism. Prof. Carl W. Belser left for Denver, Col., last week Thursday. Dr. and Mrs. J. C. Wood had a brand-new visitor last week - a son. B. M. Thompson was in Detroit, on professional business, Monday. Mr. and Mrs. John Schmid entertained Saline friends last week Friday. F. G. Osgood attended a meeting of vcssel owners at Toledo, last week. George Pulcipher and daughter, of Toledo, visited relatives here last Saturday. Miss Nina M. Doty attended the Columbian ball given in Detroit, last evening. Rev. Fr. Goldrick, of Northfield, was the guest of Rev. Fr. Kelly last Friday evening. George Jedele, of Ann Arbor town, is recovering from a recent stroke of apoplexy. Dr. Wm. Howley, of Toledo, rormerly of this city, was here this week visiting his mother. Chas. Logan is now night operator at the Miller avenue telegraph office of the T. & A. A. road. Miss Flora Koch, of South Fifth avenue, gave a party#to a number of friends last Friday evening. Fred Rettich, jr., we regret to learn, is very low, and there is but little hope of his recovery. Frank Sessions, of Columbus, O., spent last week with his parents in this city, returning Monday. Miss Elizabeth Dean went to Chicago, last Saturday, to attend the wedding of Dr. Frank Andrews. Sheriff and Mrs. Brenner enjoyed a visit this week from Mrs. Chas. Vogel and daughter, of Freedom. Mrs. E. K. Wiltrout, of Silver Lake, Ind., accompanied by a grand-daughter, visited her daughter, Mrs. R. S. Greenwood, this week. Dr. F. H. Brown and a number of friends enjoyed a sleigh ride to Whitmore Lake, last Friday evening, returning after a pleasant supper at the Stevens house. I Rev. A. S. Carman went to Detroit, Monday, to read a paper before the Baptist ministerial association. Charles F. Kayser bumped his cranium on an icy walk, Monday, and doesn't care to repeat the experiment. Mr. and Mrs. Shirk and daughter, of Croswell, have returned to their home after a visit here with Dr. and Mrs. D. A. MacLachlan. Rev. J. Mills Gelston exchanged pulpits last Sabbath with Rev.W.W. Carson, D. D., of Jefferson avenue Presbyterian church, Detroit. A. L. Noble and his book-keeper, Miss Belle Turnbull, went to Port Huron last Saturday, on business for the Electric Light Company. Mrs. B. A. Begole and daughter, of Nebraska, have concluded a visit to friends in this city, and have gone to Mt. Morris, New York. Prof. Hinsdale left for Chicago last night, where on invitation he will read a paper before the Association of School Principáis, of that city. o, Thomas J. Keech, president of the Board of Public Works, and Street Commfssioner N. J. Sutherland, went to Grand Rapids, Wednesday. The Misses Emma and Carrie Weitbrecht, of Howell, were the guests of their cousin, Miss Lydia Weitbrecht, of west Fourth street, this week. Dr. C. Georg, on account of feeling unwell, has ceased attendance upon his small-pox patients in Pittsfield, and Dr. D. A. McLachlan has taken his place. Miss Bertha Baur, daughter of Prof. Emil Baur, has returned to her duties in the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music, after a prolonged visit to her father. Andrew T. Hughes, register of deeds, with his wife and mother visited in Detroit last Sunday. Mrs. Hughes did not return home until the middle af the week. Miss Üttillie Eberbach was serenaded by the Gesang Verein Lyra on Monday evening, to remind her in a pleasant way that she had reached her 2ist birthday. Rev. Fr. Baart, of Marshall, exchanged pulpits, last Sunday, with Rev. Fr. Kelly, and lectured Sunday evening to a large audience on "The Church and the Republic." Mrs. A. L. Noble is visiting friends in Buffalo, X. . Thomas McNamara, of Chelsea, was an Ann Arbor visitor last Monday. Mr. and Mrs. B. J. Conrad were in Detroit for several days this week. Judge Harriman has been in Lansing and Monroe, a part of this week. Mrs. Frank J. Lewis is entertaining her mother, Mrs. J. D. Crosby, of Saginaw. Mr. and Mrs. Richel, of Ypsilanti, spent last Sunday with friends in this city. Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Babcock were at Chelsea, the first of the week, visiting friends. Dr. H. L. Obetz, of Detroit, was in this city, Monday, and registered at the Cook House. Dr. J. N. Martin was called to Hillsdale, on Wednesday, on professional business. Mrs. J. N. Martin has returned home, after about a month's visit with her mother in Lancaster, Öhio. Rev. Fr. ü'Brien, of Kalamazoo, will conduct service at St. Thomas' church next Sunday morning and evening. President of the Council M. E. Cooley left for Chicago yesterday, on business connected with the World 's Fair. Judge N. W. Cheever and family have been enjoying a visit from E.L. Dana, of Wyoming. He left for his home on Wednesday evening. Guy W. Stevenson and about twenty other Knights of Pythias drove to Ypsilanti, Monday evening, on a fraternal visit. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. R. Bach, Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Watts, Mr. Sam Langsdorf, and several others took a sleigh ride to Whitmore Lake last Friday evening, taking tea at the Clifton House. Rev. Fr. Kennedy, the new pastor of St. John's church, Ypsilanti, received a royal reception from his parishioners on Wednesday evening. A banquet was served at Light Guard hall, at which nearly the whole congregation were present, and at its conclusion the reverend Father was presented with a horse, buggy and sleigh.
