David Waite was in Putnam one day of last week. Mr. Brown, of Putnam, called here oa Monday. Pat Sloan was in Putnam and vicinity on Monday. Mrs. O. McClain entertained friends, Saturday. G. C. Smith made a flying trip to Chelsea, Saturday. V. Bullis, of Pinckney, made usa cali on Wednesday. John Schieferstein, sr.,has bought another lot in the village. Frank Judson, of Chelsea, was here on business, Monday. Jake Stoll has purchased H. Booth's residence for $250. Thomas Rabbit was with his many Ann Arbor friends, Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Wurster and son were in Ann Arbor, Friday. G. Connors made his parents a short cali one day last week. G. Reason, jr., of Pinckney, was with friends here last Friday. Frank Carpenter, of Birkett, is moving on his mother's farm. Mrs. Clarence Carpenter entertained her friends on Friday. F. Yager and wife were among Ann Arbor friends on Friday. Glen Carpenter, of Birkett, spent Sunday with his grandmother. Schieferstein Bros. were in Chelsea on business last Thursday. Mr. Richardson has purchased a fine new orgaïi for his daughter. Mrs. Adams was with her relatives in the village one day last week. Fred Nordman, jr., was in Ann Arbor on business last Tuesday. Ambrose Kearney, of Ann Arbor, i was on our streets last Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Curlett were with Pinckney friends, Saturday. Miss Mary Story entertained her ' friend the latter part of the week. John Roberts and daughter, Miss Kate, were Chelsea visitors recently. [. BacKus made a business trip to the county seat the last of the week. .Mr. Kellogg and daughter were with their friends in Scio last Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Jevvell spent Sunday with her parents in the village. Chas. Neeb, of Lyndon, is soon to become a resident of Dexter village. Miss Mate Cobb enjoyed a visit from her friend, the first of the week . Mr. and Mrs. Thomas McComb entertained friends from abroad last week. Wm. Arnold, sr., was among his Ann Arbor friends the first of the week. T, Fagan, of Hamburg, shook hands with old friends one day last week. Master Aklrich, of Howell, ishere as the guest of relatives for a few I weeks. Will Counter, of Jackson, lias been with his cousins here for two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. G. Reade spent Monday with relatives ín North Webster. Mrs. Lipscombe has returned from Jackson, and will make her future home here. Mr. Fohey, of Pinckney, spent Sunday with his most intimate friend here. R. Flintoft, jr., and John Mason, of Emery, were here with friends, Wednesday. Anthony Burke and son Ed., of North field, were in this place last Wednesday. The high water has done a great deal óf damage to bridges and milis the past week. Mr. and Mrs. ('. Culy and family, of Hamburg, visited with relatives here, Tuesday. The Ann Arbor jockeys were out in full force to Hiscock's vendue, last Wednesday. Willie Pidd had the pleasure of entertairiing his chum several days of the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Connors and family entertained friends on Sunday and Monday. E. Ferris and daughter, Miss Maggie, and ]. Pidd spent Sundáy with relatives in Marión. Mr. and Mrs. L. Chamberlain enjoyed a yisit from North I.ake friends, Wednesday. Mrs. ). Bowler has returned home after several weeks' stay with her daughter in Podunk. Miss Bertha Ferris has rettiri i-d home after several weeks' stay with her sister in 1 [owell. L. D. Alley is coming to the front. He now drives one of the finest horses in the county. Mrs. S. Andrews has gone to Mason, to remain a few weeks with her son and other friends. John McGuinness, of Pinckney, was looking after his old friends in this place the last of the week. Chas. Stannard has purchased a house and lot of Mrs. Whalian, in Dexter village, and will move in soon. E. A. Goodwin closed his fourth term of school in district No. 3 last Friday, with exercises by the children. Mrs. E. Carpenter and family entained their friends from Livingston county, several days of the past week. v Miss Rosanna Cope returned to her home in Ypsilanti last Saturday, having closed a successful term of school in the Smith district. Mrs. Kenny, of Webster, passed through here, Sunday, on her way to North Lake, having been called there by the death of her mother. C. L. Sigler, of Pinckney, passed through here, Monday moriiing, on his way to his studies in the University, after a few days' visit with his parents. Mr. and Mrs. James Harris and daughter, Miss Kitsey, and Mrs. B. Lynch and daughter, Miss Florence, of Pinckney, spent Sunday with their sister, Mrs. P. Lavey. Mrs. Stephen Hadley died at her home at North Lake on Saturday, March 11, after a long illness. She leaves a husband and several children to mourn her departure.
